Or MAGNA made a report on the first two months of the season, with comparaison with the first two months of the last season.

gg and supernatural are not the only returning cw shows up this season.one tree hill is up and has done better than gg.

Julia, I am well aware that this article is not from Robert or Bill directly. Still, if Bill wanted to disagree with the “Fringe a success” theme, he could have avoided quoting exactly those words in the headline on this blog. Or, he could have added a boldface “Bill’s comment” noting why he disagrees.
Not to worry though, I don’t put absolute stock in anything on any blog. I’m optimistic that someone out there, besides me, believes “Fringe” has a future. It was a bit awkward at first, but the actors are finding their rapport IMHO. I absolutely love John Noble as Dr. Walter Bishop! Anyone who sees Spongebob Squarepants as profound(ep. 1) is definitely jump-roping all over that fine line between genius and insanity .

Jim,

Desperate Housewives is actually very very good this year. That 5-year jump has helped move along storylines and introduce new ones in very creative ways. I’m really surprised of Desperate’s decline. Greys anatomy is getting better and the numbers are too for that one as well.

I think this spring will be a lot better for all of the networks with Idol, Lost, Lie to Me, 24, Kings and a couple other shows im forgetting that are hits that return in january.

Plus, with the hope of the economy getting better, we may see a jump in viewers because of that as well

Not really surprised that ABC is down the most in those demos. I used to watch both Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy (via DVR), and now I don’t DVR Grey’s and Desperate Housewives and their jump 5 years to the future just shouts all sorts of desperate (no pun intended).

I’m just hoping that Lost has gotten over the hump, as there was a period of time when it was just awful, but it seemed to be gaining steam at the end of the season last year.

Clutz, this article isn’t Bill or Robert calling Fringe a success. This is an article where they were calling Worst Week a hit and The Ex-List okay in the last report they made. So I wouldn’t be too quick to latch on to anything they say.

This is the first article I’ve seen, on this particular site, which has allowed “Fringe” to be defined as a success. I’m recalling posts which noted themes of “although it’s doing well, I’m not ready to say it’s a hit yet…” and “interesting experiment with commercial breaks but not big enough impact to change mainstream television…”
Your fine team at TVBTN has been a bit cautious in declaring “Fringe” a hit new show. I understand your reasoning there. Are we ready to move from “cautious” to “cautiously optimistic” when speaking of the success of “Fringe?”

“The Ex List has been pre-empted the past few weeks”????? The Ex List site has been taken down from CBS’s website and CBS is already planning on filling that slot for the future. The show is not pre-empted its cancelled. Done, axed, gone, destroyed, what ever way you want to put it the show is never coming back.

NBC has had no success with its new series (which may be an indication that the pilot process, while expensive, is nonetheless important—FOX and CBS, with the most successful new shows, did produce pilots).

I thought “Fringe” went straight to series order?
