NBC BROADCAST NUMBER ONE IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND HOMES NEW YORK – November 25, 2008 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of November 17-21. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 9.455 million total viewers. "Nightly" had a strong advantage over the competition for the week -- +396K more than ABC "World News'" 9.059 million, and +2.906 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 6.549 million, its best total viewer delivery since the week of March 3, 2008 and its best advantage over ABC since the week of September 1, 2008.
Week-to-week, "Nightly" increased +2% in both homes and total viewers. "Nightly" is the only Evening newscast to post a STD increase in total viewers and currently leads ABC by +191,000 viewers.
Among A25-54 (000), "Nightly" is the only evening newscast to increase in rating A25-54 season-to-date, and currently leads World News by +57,000 A25-54 (000) viewers.
In homes, "Nightly News" also placed first with a 6.2 rating and a 12 share. In second place ABC drew a 6.0/12, and CBS posted a 4.5/8.
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 3,260,000 million online streams for the week ending November 23, 2008.
