'Today" Tops GMA By Nearly One Million Viewers For The Sweep

Today Is No. 1 For 52 Straight Sweeps
NEW YORK – December 8, 2008 – NBC News' "Today" continues to dominate the morning news landscape for the 2008 November sweep. America's No. 1 morning program delivered its best November sweep victory in total viewers in five years, since November 2003. For the sweep, "Today" attracted more than 5.6 million viewers – a 958K (21 percent) lead over GMA, and a giant 2.6 million (85 percent) lead over "The Early Show." "Today" has been the No. 1 morning program in America for 52 straight sweeps in total viewers and 58 straight sweeps for adults 25-54.

For the November sweep, "Today" increased its advantage over GMA in homes (from 13% up to 22%), total viewers (from 12% up to 21%), W18-49 (from 28% to 29%), M18-49 (from 38% to 43%), A18-49 (from 31% up to 33%), W25-54 (from 17% up to 23%), and A25-54 (from 29% up to 31%) versus the November 2007 sweep.

For the sweep, "Today" led with a 4.2 household rating/14 share and 5.62 million viewers. "GMA" trailed with a 3.5/12 and 4.66 million viewers. CBS' "The Early Show" remained in third place with a 2.2/8 and 3.03 million viewers.

In rating A25-54, "Today" delivered a 2.1, a massive 31 percent more than GMA's 1.6 and a 110 percent lead over Early Show's 1.0.

For the sweep, "Today II" outdelivered "The Early Show" in homes (+14%), total viewers (+7% or +226,000), and women 18-49 (+22%). "Today II" posted 3.3 million viewers and a 1.0 in A25-54. "Today III" delivered 1.8 million viewers and a 0.6 in A25-54 for the sweep. "Today III" increased +3% in A18-49 versus the November 2007 sweep.
