Childhood Memories

In a coffee shop (Peet's) some 2500ish miles away from Washington, DC, I heard a Jhoon Rhee reference ("nobody bothers me, either!"). If you didn't grow up in the Washington, DC area in the 1970s (perhaps even early 1980s) this won't mean anything to you, but it's short, and worth watching until the end.

OK, it's getting to be the holidays, the days are short and the Redskins lost to the Bengals, all things that are thoroughly not motivational. But this really is a very deep-rooted childhood memory.

  1. TREmendous.

  2. As a fellow DC resident during my formative years, it’s unforgettable!

  3. GRD

Ha! That brings back memories, all right. And I didn’t move to D.C. till the late ’80s!

  4. I’ve never lived in Washington, DC…I grew up in South Carolina. But our cable system gave us WTTG, so even we saw this spot. (I don’t know how many cable systems offered WTTG, but this could have gotten national play.)

I haven’t seen that spot in more than 15 years but I definitely remember that tune and the kids at the end. Great memory!
