It appears that the weekly broadcast network numbers will be delayed until tomorrow -- and it could be that the overnight numbers for Monday are delayed until then too due to Nielsen processing issues

Still delayed. I typically don't post delay messages because as soon as I have, the data appears. But it's so delayed now that I'm hopeful that the posting of delays message jinx spurs the data to show up in my inbox soon.
There are also some delays with the weekly broadcast data as well -- hopefully we'll see that data later today. In the meanwhile you can check out the week's top cable shows and top cable networks if you're interested, or ponder the question: What would have happen if the NBC Universal produced House had wound up being picked up by the NBC broadcast network instead of Fox? It’s an interesting question. It certainly wouldn’t have had the Idol bump that sent House from moderately successful to mega hit. I can barely even remember what the climate was like at NBC in 2004, so trying to guess what sort of numbers House would have needed to stay on the air is beyond me. But I’m thinking it would be more of a success the way The Office is a success. Looks great on NBC, and gets nice demos, but no huge numbers.
I love this commercial…Being a Giants fan (and no I didnt just become a Giants fan when they won…Family has season tix) The fat guy on the treadmill is the best one…I think it represents the typical Giants fan you see at games…Plus I know the heartbreak of having a bad fantasy season as I did this year…and Yes I am a girl who does fantasy football…I know I rock right? Well keep up the good work you guys…

Fox dominated on this first Monday of 2009, with Ohio State versus Texas on the annual Fiesta Bowl at an approximate (and above average) 11.5 rating/18 share in the overnights for the prime-time portion from 8:30-11 p.m. For comparative purposes, take a look at how The Fiesta Bowl performed over the prior two years:

Wednesday 1/02/08: 8.3/13 (West Virginia vs. Oklahoma)

by the time House premiered on Fox in 11/04, Friends was already in NBC’s rear-view mirror, I think 50+ million watched the Friends finale in May ’04. When Zucker thinks about it, he hears Bruce Springsteen’s “Glory Days” playing in his head. I doubt Bruce will sing it in Zucker’s honor when he heads-up the Super Bowl halftime show on NBC, but it’s fun to think about.

drew, those were early metered market numbers, which are always subject to a lot of change, but I have no doubt the Fiesta Bowl took the evening. Anyone interested can see the full early metered market report via Berman.
Every time I see that ad I think to myself “House of Cards obviously has no idea what that phrase means.”
I don’t think it’s fair to compare the Fiesta Bowl this year to the past two years. This year it was the BCS championship game and aired several days later than the past couple of years. I like to see last year’s championship game’s numbers. (Was it the Orange Bowl last year?)
Not just Friends Robert, Frasier pulled in 25.2 million for its finale in May 2004. Oh how the mighty have fallen…

Vader, indeed. And I’d be OK with Spirits in the Night making the halftime cut, but I think we’re far more likely to get Born to Run and Born in the USA.
Julia, I agree the comparisons are not fair (I’d written something up on this last night but never got around to posting it), but this year the Fiesta Bowl was not the national championship game — that’s on Thursday and I don’t believe it’s any “bowl” game, but just the BCS Championship game. Last year, the BCS Championship game did air on the Monday after New Years, but I don’t think it was a bowl game then either — though the Championship game did used to switch around from the major bowl games.
It’s also unfair to compare because of the matchups. If Notre Dame ever regains its ability to play championship football it would jack up the ratings significantly (people either love them, or love to hate them, that’s always good for ratings.)
The Fiesta Bowl is not this years BCS championship game. It will air Thursday in Miami.
I thought that the championships are now revolving between the four big bowls, Fiesta, Orange, Rose and the other one. (Sugar?) And they would take place sometime after New Years. I don’t follow college anything too closely, since it’s been far too long since Michigan has been any good in any sport, and the blog I usually read to keep up at all shut down before the season started. (Also, Michigan would probably trump Notre Dame ratings, though if they could both be in a championship game would be best.)
Julia, the championship game definitely did rotate among bowls for a while, I’m not up on it enough myself to give a definitive answer.
I know Notre Dame received a huge national contract of its own from NBC for the exlusive rights to its home college games. NBC recently renewed the contract to extend it through 2015. Michigan doesn’t have a contract like that, but Notre Dame is a bit of a renegade when it comes to college football — it doesn’t belong to any conference so it can negotiate its own deals, which Michigan can’t.
Julia- That changed in 07 (I think that’s when it changed since UT won the natl championship at the rose bowl in 06).

In regards to “fantasy world” of HOUSE on NBC???- well it would have to be a dream…The people that make decisions there at NBC now I think used to work at the CW…LENO will be on 5 nights a week at 9pm central time next year on NBC…
So I rest my case…
