Please Welcome "Julia"

We are pleased to announce that long-time frequent reader and contributor Julia Honeyman is lending a hand to the TVbytheNumbers editorial team. You might recognize her as "Julia" in the comments. We're delighted to have someone on the editorial team who actually has some editing skills. Nary a day goes by without an erroneous apostrophe or five or without the occasional frequent spelling mistakes.

Julia is in college and majoring in television management and hopes someday to rise high enough through the ranks where people like Bill and I will mock her. Until then, as time allows, she will do her best to stamp out apostrophe abuse and will likely (hopefully) occasionally contribute content.

Please extend a warm welcome.

P.S. please excuse the graphic, but the only good "welcome' graphic I could find was a welcome mat, and really, nobody wants to be a doormat, so I instead went with "the crowd goes wild".

i dont like her she always has an attitude

  2. Hey Julia, “welcome” would not be so appropriate because you are already active on the blog but I must say I’m looking forward to your first post! Welcome to the blogosphere as a writer ! ;)

  3. how rude, Sam. *she* has an attitude? that was decidedly not a warm welcome!

I like her attitude and even though she was a Pushing Daisies fan she could be objective about ABC cancelling it due to ratings.

  4. I approve of this.

  5. Lauren

I am happy to make new friendship with you.

  6. Well, you’re nobody on the internet until somebody hates you. Thanks, Sam!

And thanks for the welcome, guys!

  7. TheoreticalPsychic

I am interested to see what comes of this.

    Hi Julia :)

Welcome, Julia! Your comments are part of what makes this site addictive :)

  10. revolutioninthehead

oy, sam, i would hope you’re writing that with a nice dose of irony in mind.

Welcome Julia your comments are always fun to read

  11. The sign of a great organization is the recognition of its flaws and the enthusiasm to address them. Bravo!

I know a few other TV-internet blogs I follow that could use a dose of the same can-do spirit when it comes to improving their editing. The smartest people make mistakes, but people who have good editors get the lion’s share of the respect!

So, please give me grief me when I slip and FAIL over at our blog :-)

    I mean it!

I have to agree with Sam. I’ll welcome her to your editorial team. However, I do not care for her attitude in most of her posts.

  13. I’m liking the selection more and more. If she irritates you so much that you feel motivated to comment about her attitude in the comments rather than keep it to yourself on a “warm welcome’ post — she’s perfect.

  14. GRD

Good for you, Julia! :-) As an English major/editor, I’m always glad to see fellow apostrophe hunters rising in the world. Best wishes in the new position!

  15. Let me add my tardy (why don’t those kids put themselves to sleep for a change?) but very warm welcome to Julia! Robert and I are both excited to have you contributing!

  16. Congrats!

  17. Ike

Hooray for editors! Hooray for the prevention of apostrophe abuse!

I agree with Abigail: This shows “can-do spirit.”

But in the spirit of editorial vigilance, may I ask: What’s up with the quotation marks around Julia’s name in the title here? To my eyes, it doesn’t make sense unless it’s a fake name — in which case, I don’t know why you’d want to draw attention to that. Maybe you wanted to put her name in bold instead? ;)

  18. Johnny Shoe

    Good job Julia.
Robert, for a quick glance at the photo I thought it was clipped from the Christian music TV ad…LOL

  19. Heh, good point, Ike. Almost belongs on the “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks. Shall I edit it? ;)

  20. Welcome julia/”Julia”. I recognize your name (and picture) from the comments. How do you get a picture anyway?
