Sweet.
Wow, like I needed to know aaaalll of that for just one episode? The phrase we kicked but royally, would have done just fine.
Ha ha ha ha! Thanks. I was expecting TSLOTAT to kick GG’s OMFG butt. I guess the way to beat a bad show is to put on an even worse show.
Ha, I like this bit:
In addition, “Secret Life’s” 1B debut outperformed every episode of CW’s “Gossip Girl” to date in Total Viewers, Viewers 12-34 and Females 12-34.
This is the SADDEST news I’ve ever heard…
Hands down Secret life is one of the worst acted, scripted shows on television period
While Gossip Girl has some actors that critics saying deserve recognition for their acting and has been on critics top list of television shows….
just wow….
Love how these press releases always use “Critically Acclaimed”. Every review I’ve seen about the show has been fairly negative.
I’m not saying either of them is Emmy-worthy, but given the choice between teenagers who act like teenagers and teenagers who act like little Paris Hiltons, I’d take the former every time.
No offense, GRD, but the teenagers on Secret Life don’t act like real teenagers either. And it’s poorly acted, and poorly written. Higher ratings DOES NOT equal higher quality show. And personally, I’d rather watch a show that doesn’t preach to me.
Awkward, stilted, and occasionally crazy? Sounds like a lot of teenagers I know. Heck, it sounds like the teenager I was.
It has a few good actors, and though the writing’s not great — though I think it’s improved a bit — are you seriously arguing that “Gossip Girl’s” writing IS great?? We must be thinking of different “Gossip Girls.”
I will admit some of the actors aren’t bad…particularly the actress who plays Amy. She’s great. But the dreck they are given to work with makes the show unbearable. I really wanted to like the show, because I felt the premise was great, and in theory the characters WERE similar to actual high school students. Gossip Girl, on the other hand, doesn’t pretend to say that it represents the average high school experience. It’s purposely over-the-top, glamorous, dirty fun. (And yes, I would say the writing on Gossip Girl is pretty good, if not great — see the last two episodes if you don’t believe me). What bugs me about Secret Life is that it tries to seem realistic, but it isn’t. I was in high school only five years ago, and no, just no. I think the real deal killer for me, though, was the preachy tone of Secret Life. Although, I wasn’t a fan of 7th Heaven either, so no surprise really.
I don’t mean to offend anyone who might like this show, but… it’s rubbish. The writing is embarassing and the acting borderlines on camp. It’s a shame that this show attracts a larger audience than, say, “Damages.” (Which I hope we see next-day ratings info. for
Well, no point in quarreling over it. To each his own. I’m under no illusions about “Secret Life”; as I said, neither show is going to set the world on fire. I just think it’s interesting that more people would rather be “preached at” than watch the Lifestyles of the Rich and Snotty.
ugh this is so stupid. Gossip Girl is way better than stupid Secret Life. Secret Life sucks. The acting, the stories, the dialogue are just ALL crap.
However GG on the other hand, has amazing actors/actresses(Leighton Meester, Ed Westwick, Blake Lively) and the storylines are OMFG amazing(Georgina Sparks? Bart’s death?) and the dialogue is over the top AMAZING as well
I like both shows but GG is definitely better. Secret Life is pretty good but I don’t see why it attracts more viewers than ABC Family’s other shows because its not their best.
The difference between GG and Secret Life is that you can count GG bad actors on one hand, and on Secret life you can count the good actors on one hand.
I don’t think Secret Life is bad, but Gossip Girl is a great show. I know which one I’ll be watching every Monday. Maybe if I were a teenager, I’d like Secret Life better. I think it would have held much more appeal to me personally at a younger age.
Anyway, Gossip Girl has already increased tremendously from its numbers last season. There’s room for both series.
. . . Until “House” comes back and tramples them both. (I still think it’s a bad decision to put “House” on at 8 p.m., but whatever. I don’t get to make these decisions.)
Ayeee yall some haters out there . Ya just mad cos ya not on the screen playin they doin the best they can . I actually like this show. It goes pretty hard. And its very interesting to me. But hey everybody gots there own perspective. Ahaha keep hating cos secret life is still fina be ON top. I’ve never been committed to no series like this but im diggin it foreaals. Ya needa just back the fxck down and keep it solid wit these actors/actresses. I’ve neva seen gossip girl but hey this is pretty goood for me. Fxck up haterrs.! Hi haters ! You see ME ! Ouuttie Mj!
