'Howie Do It' Captures a 10-month non-Olympic Time-Period High

THE DEBUT OF HOWIE MANDEL'S NEW SERIES EARNS NBC'S BEST FRIDAY 8-9 P.M. RESULTS, EXCLUDING OLYMPICS, SINCE LAST FEBRUARY

'HOWIE DO IT' IMPROVES ON NBC'S SEASON AVERAGE IN THE SLOT BY 91 PERCENT IN 18-49

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – January 10, 2009 – Last night's premiere of the new NBC reality series "Howie Do It" has captured NBC's highest non-Olympic results in the time period in more than 10 months, according to "fast affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

From 8-9 p.m. ET, the debut of "Howie Do It" averaged a 2.1 rating, 7 share in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall, NBC's strongest Nielsen figures in the time slot, excluding Olympics, since February 22, 2008 in 18-49 and since February 15, 2008 in total viewers.

The debut of "Howie Do It" improved on NBC's season averages in the time period by 91 percent in 18-49 rating (2.1 vs. 1.1) and 3.0 million persons or 63 percent in total viewers (7.7 million vs. 4.7 million). The series, hosted by executive producer Howie Mandel, ranked #2 in the time period in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 among adults 18-34 (tie) and men 18-49 (pending updates).

At 9 p.m. ET last night, NBC's "Lipstick Jungle" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 4.1 million viewers overall) matched its highest 18-49 rating to date as a Friday regular and delivered its second-biggest overall audience over those eight telecasts. From its first half-hour to its second, "Lipstick Jungle" increased its 18-49 rating by 15 percent (to a 1.5 from a 1.3). Note that "Lipstick Jungle's" "live plus same day" ratings are increasing by 34 percent in 18-49 in "live plus seven day" results, giving "Lipstick Jungle" the biggest jump among all primetime network series.

At 10 p.m., "Dateline NBC" delivered a 1.3/3 in 18-49 and 4.9 million viewers overall. From its first half-hour to its second, "Dateline" increased its 18-49 rating by 36 percent (to a 1.5/4 from a 1.1/3) and its overall viewership by 22 percent (to 5.4 million from 4.4 million).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for Friday night are: CBS 2.3/7; ABC, 1.9/6; NBC, 1.6/5; ABC, 1.6/5; CW, 0.5/2. In overall total viewers, January 9 preliminary results are: CBS, 10.3 million; ABC, 6.1 million; NBC, 5.5 million; Fox, 4.2 million; CW, 1.1 million
