FOX weekly highlights for week of January 5-11, 2009

The week of January 5-11 was highlighted by strong performances from the FOX Sports presentation of the Fiesta Bowl and BCS Championship game. In fact, the BCS Championship game led FOX to its highest rated night of the current broadcast season in Total Viewers. On Saturday, the NFC Divisional Playoff: Arizona & Carolina led FOX to its highest rated night of the current broadcast season in Adults 18-49. For the week, FOX ran to victory as it ranked No. 1 among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

On Monday, the FOX Sports presentation of the Fiesta Bowl: Texas vs. Ohio State pre-game and game combined to deliver a 5.6/14 from 8-11p among Adults 18-49.  The Fiesta Bowl delivered FOX's highest rated non-championship bowl game since the network began airing the BCS bowl series in January 2007. FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and Men 18-49/18-34/25-54.

On Thursday, the FOX Sports presentation of the BCS Championship game: Oklahoma vs. Florida delivered a 9.5/25 from 8:20-11:49p among Adults 18-49.  The BCS Championship out-delivered last year's title game (LSU vs. Ohio State on 1/7/08) by a big +16% among Adults 18-49 (9.5 vs. 8.2), by +15% among Adults 18-34 (8.6 vs. 7.5) and by +16% among Total Viewers (26.8 vs. 23.1 Mil.).

FOX won Thursday night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers and all key demos while outperforming the combined 3 Net competition by +7% among Adults 18-49 (8.7 vs. 8.1), by +15% among Adults 18-34 (7.8 vs. 6.8) and by +1% among Total Viewers (25.2 vs. 25.0).

On Sunday, the seventh season premiere of ‘24’ delivered a 4.3/10 among Adults 18-49.  The ‘24’ premiere outperformed movie ’24: Redemption’ which aired earlier this season on 11/23/08 by +8% among Adults 18-49 (4.3 vs. 4.0) and +4% in Total Viewers (12.5 vs. 12.1 Mil).  ‘24’ also showed increases compared to its finale on 5/21/07, including +10% in Adults 18-49 (4.3/10 vs. 3.9/10) and +21% in Total Viewers (12.6 vs. 10.4 Mil). ‘24’ ranked No. 2 in its 8-10p time period among Adults 18-49 (tie), No. 3 among Adults 18-34 and No. 1 in all key male demos.

This was FOX’s highest rated Sunday (excluding sports) among Adults 18-49 in over one year (since 11/25/07) and in nearly 16 months among Total Viewers (since the Emmys on 9/16/07).

Season-to-date, Most Current

Compared to the same weeks of the 07/08 season (9/24/07-1/13/08), FOX is down -9% among Adults 18-49 (3.0/8 vs. 3.3/9).  In the demo ABC (-12%), CBS (-6%), NBC (-12%) and The CW (-18%) are all down.

This was FOX’s highest rated Sunday (excluding sports) among Adults 18-49 in over one year (since 11/25/07) and in nearly 16 months among Total Viewers (since the Emmys on 9/16/07).
