'Saturday Night Live' Scores Its Top Numbers Since The November Election

'SNL' TIES FOR THE #7 ENTERTAINMENT RATING OF THE WEEK ON ANY BROADCAST OR CABLE NETWORK IN 18-49 

HOSTED BY NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AND FEATURING MUSICAL GUEST TAYLOR SWIFT, 'SNL' TOPS ALL ITS TELECASTS FROM LAST SEASON UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – January 15, 2009 – The January 10 edition of "Saturday Night Live" achieved the show's highest adult 18-49 rating and overall viewer total since the November election, according to "live plus same day" in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. The last "SNL" to score higher was the November 1 telecast hosted by Ben Affleck, featuring musical guest David Cook and an appearance by Presidential candidate Senator John McCain. 

The January 10 "Saturday Night Live," hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and featuring musical guest Taylor Swift, delivered a 3.9 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49 and 8.9 million viewers overall. "SNL" is tied for the #7 rating of the week among all broadcast and cable entertainment programs on all networks, behind only "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "The Golden Globe Awards," "The Biggest Loser," "24" and "The Mentalist" (excludes sports). 

Last weekend's "Saturday Night Live" outscored all its telecasts of last season in 18-49 and total viewers. Versus the show's 2007-08 averages for originals, the January 10 telecast was up 44 percent in 18-49 (3.9 vs. 2.7) and 39 percent in total viewers (8.9 million vs. 6.4 million).
