I find the TV show totally cute and hokey. I'm glad its picked up for another season. I really found the books boring, but I did read them right after my third time through the Lord of the Rings, so I may have had too high an expectation. I find the TV show totally cute and hokey. I'm glad its picked up for another season.

I've read the books and love the show even more, The show is very entertaining which is the point of a good show. The books are OK but nothing compared to the Inheritance books or the A song of ice and fire books.

Just because it isn't similar to the books doesn't mean it sucks. Grow up.

I loved the books and read them many times over... I feel as though I know the story of Richard Rahl inimately... Yes the TV show does not accurately portray the events of the books or the chronology of the story lines... But has anyone ever read Hercules? Tell me that the TV show accurately portrayed him to be accurate? hmmmmm.. not likely!!

The TV show is good so long as you stop looking for the co-relation to the book. Its a fun fantasy show for people looking to escape their boredom with something other than the rest of the tripe offered for viewing...

LOTS is OK by me....

I have not read the books, and it doesn't bother me if this show does not follow them. IMO the TV series can not tarnish the actual story the books told. The books came first, so they win the prize, as books usually do. Is it not ok if the rest of us who have not read the books enjoy the show anyway? There is so much crap on TV that is not worth watching.....57 Channels and Nothin On, as Springsteen said. LOTS is at least enjoyable to watch, even if there were no sound I could look at New Zealand all day, lol.

" so rest assured that I am going to be intimately involved in the writing of each of the episodes." - Terry Goodkind, taken from terrygoodkind.com the official site.

Perhaps you can port a link to Zedd's post stating otherwise? I searched his posts and found nothing to the contrary.

@Paul
Get your facts straight. Mr. Goodkind does NOT have anything to do with the writing of this filth. Originally, yes, this was the intent. But if you were to review your facts you may have noticed the official posting by Zedd, Mr. Goodkind's representitive on his official website www.terrygoodkind.com:

"Terry ws going to be involvesd, but unfortuantely thigns changed when ABC. Disney put up the money. People with the money have the control."(spelling his error)

To anybody with any ability to read between the lines it is obvious that Mr. Goodkind must be devastated. He vowed never to sell the series unless he was sure it would be done TO HIS SPECIFICATIONS. If you have read the series and actually spent any time to understand its meaning you would find a terrible irony in the way Mr. Goodkind was treated.

Quote by Mr. Goodkind from a few years back: "I promise to work my hardest to make it not just the best show on TV but to keep it true to the spirit of the book and especially the characters." I feel terribly for him

The show does not match the book at all. I would recommend if you truly want to enjoy the show–never read the books because you will be sorely disappointed. Character histories have been changed, some characters have been eliminated. Basically it has nothing to do with the books except the names, and a watered down version of the powers. If you’ve you read the books then never watch the show because you will be upset period."

Wrong. I read the entire series a couple times because the books are just that good. But the series was never meant to be exactly like the books. They have stated this since the beginning. Enjoy the books for what they are, and the series for what it is. I am tired of hearing "its not exactly like the books so it sucks!" It's still terry doing the writing, and it's fantastic. Very glad to hear its doing well, and very much looking forward to another season.

I'm glad to hear it's been renewed.

I actually quit reading the books about six volumes in. The author often gets a tad too caught up in some of his bondage fantasies, to the detriment of the actual storyline. It's been so many years since I stopped reading them that I'd forgotten, especially in the early couple of books (Mord'Sith excluded), there was generally more story and less fetish (this reverses itself as the books continue).

I had wondered when I heard they were going to make this series, what they were going to do with all the stuff that simply wasn't fit for television (or even a rated R movie, LOL). So far the writers have managed to distill out some of the better story bits and meld them into something enjoyable to watch.

Richard's character in the show is written a little too "dumbly", but I noticed as the episodes go on they're developing his cleverness a little better. So hopefully that'll continue.

I love the tv which has gotten me reading the book (already into the 2nd one). One of my main issues is that the show omits many of the key details which make it such a good book...The wittiness and cleverness of Richard is really dumbed down in the tv show, where he's portrayed as just a brute with a passion to kill Darken Rahl. Show seems to be getting a little better with time though.

The show sucks! The special effects are from the 80's, it doesn't follow the book! The cast is lame but better than the scripts... not saying much! The first 30 min of the premiere was great, then 5hit hit the fan! I want to like it; I even force myself to watch it hoping something will come of it. Just think, I use to think Eragon was the colossal f up, but this takes the cake hands down!

Happy it's been picked up again.
I like that its different from the books. This way, no one can say, 'they're screwing up the book!' If it's not in the book, it didn't happen. If it didn't happen, it might have. :D

Congrats LotS, you've been accepted into this cruel, bitter world.

the second book is the best. its definitely worth it.

Really? I loved the first book but couldn't get through the second one. It's been years since I've been a fantasy genre reader, but maybe I should give it another try. I gave up on the series because the second book was too boring for me.

Don't worry, you won't need to read the second book for the 2nd season, so far the first season doesn’t even match the first book... and so much has been destroyed I doubt the second season will even retain ANY of the second book.. it’s too bad this crap has been picked up… such a good story gone to waist. Oh well… I guess breaking it down to lowest common denominator works!

Yay! **does happy dance** Although I'm a big fan of the book, I enjoy the TV show as well. Great news.

Awesome. The show's been getting better every week, so this news is great to hear. At least one of my shows is safe for next season.

Great news. The show is really finding it's feet now, and could run for years. YAH :)

I guess I should really catch up on Hulu and read the second book so I can watch next season. It's a shame it's in the 800-900 page range. ;)
