"DEAL OR NO DEAL" HITS SEASON HIGH RATINGS
#1 New First-Run Series Hits Highs In Households And Total Viewers
Los Angeles, CA -- January 28, 2009 -- NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution and Endemol USA's five-day-a-week version of "Deal or No Deal" hit season high ratings in both households and total viewers in the latest national weekly syndication ratings.
"Deal or No Deal," which is the #1 new first-run series in syndication this season, scored its all-time high 2.5 HH GAA, for the week of January 12, 2009, according to Nielson Media Research. "Deal" also hit its season high in total viewers, averaging 3.6 million viewers for the week. The hit series hosted by Howie Mandel, also tied its season high in Adults 25-54, averaging a 1.2 in the key demo.
"Since its launch in September, 'Deal' has grown more than 30% nationally and continues to improve time periods for our local station partners," says Barry Wallach, President NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution.
Hosted by Mandel, who continues to host NBC's primetime version of "Deal or No Deal," the new syndicated edition is sold in more than 97% of the U.S. for its first season.
The new syndicated version features all the key elements of the hit primetime series, including models, contestants taking big risks and having the chance to win a life-changing amount of money, the Banker, Mandel as host and the same award-winning production team from Endemol USA and Executive Producer Scott St. John.
Based on the successful format from Endemol that has aired in more than 50 countries, "Deal or No Deal" is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding and distributed in national syndication by NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution. David Goldberg is the President of Endemol USA. The series is executive-produced by Scott St. John.
