3d-glasses-for-chuck

Because of the date, it's now too late to call the number we pointed to in the original NBC press release, and I'm not one to steer people to buying them off of Ebay or other outlets if you can possibly get them for free! It's definitely not too late to get the glasses from a retailer with the Sobe Life Water display. But where to find one?

Here is the list of participating retailers per Sobe:

  • Kroger
  • Ralphs
  • Frys
  • Safeway/Vons
  • Supervalu
  • Food Lion
  • A&P
  • Pathmark
  • Coburns
  • Fairway
  • Fresh Brands
  • Hy Vee
  • Nash Finch
  • Roundy’s
  • Winn Dixie
  • K-Mart
  • Dollar General
  • Hess (Select Stores Only)
  • CVS (Select stores only)
  • Meijer (on 1/31)
  • Target (on 1/31)

I can't vouch for the list, or whether they'll be available at any of these retailers that are local to you. But hopefully one of them will work for you. In my own experience as of 1/27, I had not seen the glasses in my local Safeway (even though Sobe doesn't list Safeway as "selected stores only") . Note that the glasses are not scheduled to be available at Target and Meijer until 1/31 -- so those look like great last minute ways to get the glasses. Good luck!

    Thank you Robert!

Well, it looks like i’m going to Dollar General tonight.

    There’s a sentence I never thought i’d say.

  3. Jennifer

I was able to get them at my local Smith’s Grocery Store (a chain mainly in Utah, parent company Kroger). I walked right to the refrigerated beverages aisle and there was the display!

  4. Joe

I just checked with my local Dollar General (Granbuy, Texas) They confirmed they should have a shipment today or tomorrow.

  5. I asked my local Target folks about these glasses today and everyone said that they had not received them. If, indeed, they will be available on 1/31/09, then I will check back. What bothers me is that, if they are to receive the devices, then they should know when to expect them. I’m not a lawyer, but do I smell a class-action suit here?

  6. Mike, I think for a class action lawsuit there would have to be damages of some sort. Not being able to watch an episode of a show is not damaging. The only people who will get hurt by this is NBC, who will lose viewers (LOTS of them) if the show is not watchable without the glasses.

All during NBCs “Dancing Stars Competition” shows for past 4 weeks were commercials for these glasses but it went by so quick and the announcer was to unintelligable I had to do masses of research to even find out what he was talking about. Then I went to Albertson’t and the manager didn’t know anything about it, even though I bought a bottle of SO BE. A class action law suit, yes indeed. TO think that they spent millions on those commercials and seem wasted as nobody knows about it or what product it was advertising. Now I suppose they will bombard us with even more tasteless and obscure ones.

  8. Since the Target campaign was always planned as the day before the game availability, there’s no point in getting on Target’s case unless they aren’t there on 1/31. They should expect to receive them before 1/31.

Albertson’s isn’t on the list so I’m not surprised the manager didn’t know.

Class action suits? That’s funny! Even the greediest of lawyers isn’t taking “The Case of the missing 3D Glasses”.

Just picked a bunch up at Kmart in Gresham, Or had a big stash 4 pairs of glasses per sheet.

  10. Rae

I’m local to Orlando, FL. Checked two Winn Dixies in the area and neither had the displays. HOWEVER, our local grocer, Publix, seems to have them in select locations. For those in this area: I got some at the Winter Park Publix (located in Winter Park Village) and the K-Mart across the street (on 17/92) had them as well.

Target will have a demo agent/worker going into the store that day and working the store, along with passing the glasses out. The glasses go to the demo workers, NOT target. THEY (demo workers) bring them to the store, the store does not have them. This law suit stuff is a bit much. geesh! I, in fact have 400 pairs and I will be passing these out from 12-4 in the Palm Springs area. workers.

  12. Me

    So Sorry…FORGOT TO ADD
They (demos workers and 3-D) will be in the Target stores on Saturday, the 31st.

  13. Andrew Spagnoli

Nice list of stores (except for the fact that there are none of the listed stores in many parts of the U.S. while other parts of the U.S. have multiple places to get them). Great… nothing like getting up early on Super Bowl Sunday to go to effin’ Target and hope that the jerks who have diverted half the glasses to bootleg on websites haven’t got then all already. You would think that Pepsi would be able to work out a better distribution network since you can get their crap drinks everywhere under the sun.

  14. Here is my anecdotal experience in the chilly wilds of the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC.

    1. Wegman’s & Target @ 28 & Waxpool Road near Dulles. No one had any idea what I was talking about.
    2. Small Giant Food at Spout Run & Lee Hwy in N. Arlington. Pepsi delivery man knew of the promotion, but that Giant Store didn’t have it.
    3. Large Giant Food store on Gloucester Rd. in Ashburn, VA had them, in the tiniest of displays that I almost missed. There were far larger Super Bowl displays at all stores I went to for Coke products, Tostitos products and Budweiser products.

im amazed at how confusing and difficult it is to get these glasses. i live in chicago and all those stores listed above, except for target, dont even exist in my area. To top it off i work the 31st and wont have time to go to target cuase it’s very out of the way. i’m just really upset and now i have to watch my favorite show with no glasses and a weird picture. thanks NBC for doing an amazing job. sorry but only airing your 3d ads on a terrible dancing show, which i refuse to see, was stupid.

  16. Cookson

I work at SCHNUCKS… a local store in the midwest, and we have the glasses too. No ones getting them and we’ve had them out for about 2 weeks now. lol

  17. Jennifer

Bill, you make me long for home. I’m stuck living in Utah for now, but besides the Arlington Giant, I know exactly what stores/locations you are talking about because those are close to where I grew up. I’ll pass along the info to my friends that still live in the area so that they can go get their glasses!

Strange thing about the store that I got my glasses at is that there really wasn’t much Superbowl promotion stuff out at all, and the SoBe display was easy to find and looked exacted like the picture posted.

For people living in Hawaii, this article was in our local paper

    http://www.starbulletin.com/columnists/kokualine/20090128_OK_to_scatter_ashes_at_citys_Lanai_Lookout.html

Q: Do you know where we can get those 3-D glasses for the Super Bowl and also for the “Chuck” TV show that has “Dom” from “Lost” in it?

A: The 3-D glasses, for viewing two 3-D commercials during the Super Bowl game on Sunday, as well as the NBC TV series “Chuck” on Monday night, are available for free at SoBe Lifewater displays at several retail outlets on Oahu.

According to PBG Hawaii, distributor of SoBe in the islands, the glasses will be available at all Safeway stores, beginning today, as well as at these locations:

Foodland Super Market — Market City, Beretania, Hawaii Kai, Aina Haina, Kaneohe, Dillingham, Kailua, Ewa Beach, Laie, Pupukea and Waipio; Sack N Save — Stadium and Nanakuli; and Times Super Markets — Liliha, Waimalu, Aiea, Kunia, Waipahu, McCully, Beretania and Kahala.

Also, at Kmart — Stadium, Nimitz and Waikele; Longs Drugs — Kamehameha, Wahiawa and Mililani (although there may not be displays in the two stores in Mililani); and Tamura’s — Waianae and Wahiawa.

  19. My experience in Safeway today (in San Francisco’s east bay)was this:

Me: um, 3D glasses for the SuperBowl?

Safeway: and Chuck!! You’re the gazillionth person to ask, but we don’t have any, at least not yet.

    I will try again tomorrow.

  20. Shatten

um, will any 3d glasses work? for instance the ones i got with journey to the center of the earth 3-d?
