via CBS press release:
- “CBS SUNDAY MORNING” CELEBRATED ITS 30TH ANNIVERSARY BY ONCE AGAIN RANKING AS THE #1 SUNDAY MORNING NEWS PROGRAM IN ALL KEY DEMOS
Some things just get better with age. The Feb. 1 broadcast of CBS SUNDAY MORNING celebrated its 30th anniversary, and the much-celebrated program is still going strong: up +3% in households (3.6/10 from 3.5/10), up +4% in viewers (5.21m from 5.02m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.6/08). These numbers once again made SUNDAY MORNING the #1 Sunday morning news program in all key demographics.
Season-to-date, SUNDAY MORNING is up +5% in viewers (5.07m from 4.81m), +7% in adults 25-54 (1.6/08 from 1.5/08) and even in households (3.5/10) compared to last year.
Anchored by Charles Osgood, the special 30th anniversary broadcast honored the milestone by reflecting upon the ways the world has and has not changed since SUNDAY MORNING premiered on January 28, 1979. The broadcast also featured a report on the significance of Sundays throughout American history, examined the scientific, spiritual and cultural impact the sun has on all of us and revisited one of the Americans Charles Kuralt, SUNDAY MORNING’s first anchor, introduced in his famed series On the Road.
