Women would not be amused if the networks foisted a macho co-host upon Oprah Winfrey or the View. Why then does CBS feel the need to foist Ms Perky on a show that caters mostly to men? Men can always change channels you know. And they are. This silly mistake is costing CBS a lot of money.

We are 100% in agreement here. I really can see historians looking back on this economic collapse and reflecting in horror how blind/stupid we as a people and a media had to be to care about such matters.

I was horrified at the lack of attention/outrage at Pres Bush’s (W’s) video at the Press’ Dinner with a taped joke of him looking/snooping throughout the White house for weapons of mass destruction poking fun at their absence, “Nope not over here,” which of course was his basis for the Iraq war, while 3,000+ of our soldiers gave their LIVES for said quest.

Fair enough. BUT did she not NOT ask the crew the ipod query? Perhpas you could have been pleasantly surprised that she didn’t repeat the same mistake twice? I’m not sure how Anderson Cooper’s question is relevant to Katie.

I do agree with you that today’s news is a joke to the Murrow/Cronkite era. How anyone can take O’Reilly’s “Body Language” segments seriously is pathetic. I’m afraid it is a matter of time before the Big Three will have to resort to this extreme of empty tabloid journalism if ratings is all it is about.

The intellect of the viewers seems to have dropped precariously and been replaced with a desire for emotionally, low attention span, knee jerk histrionics as well. Most notably on Fox and MSNBC. It thankfully hasn’t reared it’s head on CNN to the same degree and so far the Big Three have distanced themselves as well. Thanks for the honest reply.

And I love Keith as a sports guy. But on politics, his anger is over the top and unwatchable – he’s no better than those idiots on Fox News. I’m much happier watching Maddow.

For evening news, I pick Brian Williams, but I respect Couric.

As an aside are you male? Are you Conservative? Let’s try and keep emotion out of this and have a mature debate. Clearly not all of her interviews are THAT bad. Let’s be fair adn balanced. Please cite one, just one interview that you approve of, and that itself would be a proper template she should use more often in the future. Perhaps the universally lauded interview with Palin? Lauded except with the radical right of course. BTW before I’m accused of being from the radical left, Keith Olberman is IMHO as big a hysterical loon as Bill O’Reilly.

If you can’t find one positive thing perhaps the problem is not with Couric and you dont’ really have anythign to offer? I’m not looking for political debate. I’m looking for journalistic debate as i think we ALL agree CBS Evening News ratings have NOT risen.

It was mentioned elsewhere, and I agree with the fact that Moonves won’t fire her until all options are exhausted. Moonves won’t admit to any mistake in hiring her to anchor the CBS news.
