USA Network has filed for divorce from The Starter Wife, citing irreconcilable ratings.
When the Debra Messing-fronted Wife debuted in 2007 as a six-hour miniseries, it attracted more than 5 million viewers and went on to earn 10 Emmy nominations. However, ratings for its 10-episode first season averaged just 2.4 million viewers -- a decent number by most cable standards, but not for USA, where its top shows (Burn Notice, Monk) regularly pull in around 6 million.

What a bummer! I really liked this show and thought it was getting its legs. But its all about the numbers.
Blah. Doesn’t bother me much. I was barely into the miniseries and then I got annoyed by how they just pushed the restart button on the whole show to start the regular series.
Hopefully USA will take another look at To Love and Serve or whatever that Shiri Appelby show was called. It was supposed to air with Burn Notice but it got pre-empted by the writers strike. The show is very decent and I think it would fit in well with their line-up.
But it is a cable show directed at woment they buried on Friday night at 10pm. They expect better? Are they nuts!
Mandi, the Shiri Appleby vehicle was “To Love and Die.” I really enjoyed the telefilm and would love to see more.
I am so disappointed! This was The Only show I really enjoyed watching!!!!
