"Nightly" Beats "World News" for Its 18th Consecutive Week
NEW YORK - February 18, 2009 - According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of February 9 -15, 2009. It was a strong week for the newscast as it averaged 9.444 million, a whopping +1.257 million more viewers than ABC "World News'" 8.187 million, and +2.694 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 6.750 million. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads "World News" by +704,000 viewers.
"Nightly" has won for 18 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for twelve straight weeks in A25-54. "Nightly" has delivered over nine million total viewers for each of the last fifteen weeks.
Among the key demographic adults 25-54, "Nightly News" posted a 2.6 rating, ahead of ABC's 2.0 rating, CBS followed with a 1.7 rating. Nightly led World News by +710,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date, "Nightly" leads World News by +273,000 A25-54 viewers.
In homes, "Nightly News" kept far ahead of the pack with a 6.2 rating and a 12 share. In second place ABC drew a 5.6/11, and CBS posted a 4.5/9.
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 3.4 million online streams for the week ending February 14, 2009.
