You’re hurting my dreams of an Ugly Betty/Supernatural crossover….

Before the crossover PP’s retention out of GA was around the same as Brothers and Sisters out of Desperate Housewives, in the 60-65% range. Now it was 75%. The cross over did make people give it another try, and some stayed on. It might not be a stand alone hit, but it’s the only show that manages to get the GA people to stay tuned. It is the only hit out of GA since it moved to Thursdays. Lost did well in the slot, but Lost was already a established show…

No, the sky’s not falling at CBS. But, as Grey’s Anatomy’s ratings steadily increase and CSI continues to shed a million or more each week, it won’t take long before there will be a meeting of the minds. Grey’s already has built a huge advantage in the demo’s. The gain in viewers after being much maligned by the media all season must be such sweet vindication for Shondaland. Lesson of the day- no matter how many times you get punched around and knocked to the ground, if you are a true winner you’ll have the boldness to get up again and fight for your fans. And I don’t know that they will be recognized by the Emmy association, but the performances by the primary stars over the course of the last two months has been phenomenal. Even the performances of the secondary role players has been chilling.

Finally, it’s official! Private Practice became a stand alone hit last night with no crossover stars from Grey’s Anatomy. Congrats to them and again a lesson on how great actors in great roles telling stories that arouse such high emotion from the viewers they transcend the gimmick that inspired it all.

Mel, I wish I knew how much the average episode of Gossip Girl generated in advertising revenue for new episodes and repeats, and the same for Supernatural. I’d feel much more qualified to offer an opinion.

While I don’t have the 18-49 data, I doubt that an airing Friday at 9pm that drew 12.9 million viewers got more than a 4.4 rating in adults. If you can correct me on this, please do.

Why, yes, Robert. Yes I have. It continually mystifies me how the CW does business. Its all very well and good to have a target audience and a brand and all that, but isn’t it also kinda important to keep an eye on what is actually working — not what you wish was working and not what your PR dept is trying to convince everyone else is working? Is it me? Or does Dawn have her head in her Prada briefcase?

Or am I just being goofy– thinking that when your key shows are pulling less than 3 million viewers total — no matter what the demo is — it ain’t all its cracked up to be?

I was kinda iffy on Dollhouse last week — this week will be important . . .

I just have to say that I LOVE that you talk about Supernatural.

I wonder if the CW did that it would make a difference? Hmmmmm …..

That says something. I’m not sure what, but it’s something.

But Fridays in the fall of 2000 were a bit different than they are now, so it wouldn’t surprise me if it included them.

I like LF as a actor and his character as well. He just shouldn’t be the central focus of the show. Hopefully its just temporary to establish his character quicker. Its too bad the character didn’t come in with more experience and be Gil’s replacement. But that can’t be changed now.

As for Hell’s Kitchen, yes, I confess, I do watch it too, but I’m disappointed by its numbers this season. Not a fan of FOX deciding to put it Thursdays at 9:00. It clashes with my Office & 30 Rock hour and it also causes HK to suffer in the ratings.

Putting HK Thursdays at 9:00 causes it to lose old people to CSI, womento Grey’s, and young people to Office-30 Rock. Not a smart idea for FOX.

Anywho – in 2011 after LOST ends, they should do Survivor: LOST where some of the cast of LOST as “The Others” pick off the Survivors one by one dragging them back to the compound and voting whether to released them or stick them in that gizmo in the Orchid station that sends people back to the mainland. At the start of each episode a flaming arrow lands on the beach with a note for their latest challenge – the winner is immune as usual from getting the boot. Im sure CBS and ABC could work something out.
