haha, my 2 favorite shows are the most pirated
I wonder i those are Americans just not watching on NBC.com or internationals like people from the UK as we only start Volume 4 tommorrow at 9pm.
I can’t believe people download scrubs torrents. it’s on like 3 different channels at all hours of the day, every day of the week
Really Fin? well i personally feel that volume 4 is way better than volume 3, it’s really starting to get good again.
HEROES getting good again? I admit it’s not the total junk that volume 2 and 3 were, but it’s still horrible TV. The characters all have massive multiple personality disorders. There isn’t one character on the show that is written well. They do contradictory actions towards their supposed personality and feelings every episode.
The idea that the government now wants to imprison them is decent, but how they’re going about it all makes no sense at all. The only reason I keep watching is I love watching a great show go to hell under the watchful eye of BS. A real executive would have fixed the problem long ago. Tim Kring would be gone.
That’s some serious Schadenfreude there, Nick. But I agree, they should fire Kring, put Fuller in charge and definitely bring in Ira Steven Behr and Scott Peters from The 4400 who judging from IMDb haven’t been doing much since its cancellation.
Considering the way The 4400 took a downward turn after season two, do you really think they should come in and lend a hand?
true, Nick, Heroes has become a shadow of what it once was, but it still entertains me and so I watch. And I suppose it entertains you too, for different reasons, but a viewer is a viewer.
Jared, right but NBC can’t afford to keep the show right now. With their marketing costs the show is rumored to be around $7M to $9M an episode. So they’re promoting it fiercely and getting no returns. The fear here is that if they lower their promotions the show will lose 33% of its audience. Which would be bad. The production costs of the show are too high as well. They need to cut them in half at least.
There is a big reason why when NBC announced they were picking up new seasons of the OFFICE, etc. so early that HEROES wasn’t on the list. Angela did all she could to kick the questions about that to the curb, but the fact is, it’s not picked up yet. Everyone thinks its a foregone conclusion but it really isn’t.
HEROES is on the bubble. Due primarily to costs and internal belief that the show’s quality is currently garbage.
Who torrents Desperate Housewives?
Julia: You’re right about season 3 being bad, but season 4 was even better than season 2 because the producers decided where they were going with the plot instead of recycling it like Kring does.
It’s sad USA didn’t gave the 4400 another season to rap up all the loose ends and to see what will happen.
How are these “pirated”? They’ve been broadcast over the air. It’s like taping them off the television (legal) and giving the tape to someone else (also legal). I don’t think there is a law that prevents someone from making a copy of something that was taped legally. So these can’t be qualified as “pirated” episodes. Downloaded, yes. Likely w/o commercials, which irritates the studios and advertises, yes. Illegal, though? IDK
Actually, definitely illegal, Lighthope.
Concerning Heroes, I have to agree that Tim Kring himself is a problem. The first season finale was horrible. Didn’t he write that? Replacing him with some 4400 writers would improve the show immensely. Ira Steven Behr from the 4400 also wrote or co-wrote some very good episodes of Star Trek: DS9.
Nick is right — the characters’ behavior often makes no sense. They turn on a dime and suddenly act differently for no reason. “Volume 4″ is an improvement so far, but not good enough.
$7 million or more per episode? What?!? How much is the show itself and how much is marketing? How much is normally spent on marketing for other programs on a per-episode basis?
this is only downloads by americans or all world?
d, I believe the estimates are for worldwide downloading via bittorrent.
People, Heroes is still in season three: its in ‘volume’ four. Theres a big difference and it annoys me for some reason when people forget.
Nick C you say that but Heroes is also a massive hit internationally, in the UK alone it gets $800,000 per episode: so yes its down but i’m not sure its loosing money.
Fin: Where did that $800,000 per episode figure come from? (I’m not questioning its accuracy, just curious.)
I find it hard to believe that the BBC pays $800k/£400k an episode for Heroes.
The BBC is funded commercial-free by the taxpayer paying licence fees, and that figure seems way too high, especially as it only airs on BBC2 and gains 2-3m viewers max.
