So yes, it has to be a good show anyway, but if certain shows get set an ending date, it creates for a far more concise and dynamic storyline. A set end date CAN totally change a show’s direction.

Setting an end date does not save a show. ‘Lost’ is not good because it has an end date; it is good because it is actually a good show. You cannot just throw an end date on ‘Heroes’ and expect that that will make things okay. Viewers are not just going to come back because they know that something is ending. Maybe for an episode or two, but the writing will ultimately have to prove itself to regain fans.

‘Heroes’ cannot move to Wednesdays at 9:00. That is the ultimate ‘Heroes’ killer. It is dying anyway, but this death is slow (in relative terms). Seeing as ‘Heroes’ was created because NBC wanted a serialized drama after noticing how successful ‘Lost’ was for ABC, there is likely no greater audience overlap among ‘Heroes’ watchers than with ‘Lost’. And no one is going to choose ‘Heroes’ over ‘Lost’. The ratings for ‘Lost’ will not change against ‘Heroes’, but a dent will be put in those of ‘Heroes’. Not to mention the competition of ‘American Idol’, its lead-out and ‘Criminal Minds’.

Personally I hope Heroes is cancelled so that Quinto can move on. He IS a movie star. He looks like a leading man and has tons of talent and charisma. He can do action, comedy and romance. I can barely wait for Star Trek to come out. I hope he begins working on another movie soon!

P.S. Anybody who is still arguing that CBS might renew “Worst Week” should go stick their head in the microwave and give themself a tan (or whatever “wacky” things Sam accidentally did while slipping on banana peels and breaking stuff every worst week the world had to suffer through that wretched show). Aside from not even airing one episode, CBS shut off all on-air promotion for it in January. The series finale didn’t even have a promo run during “Two and a Half Men.” You know, the show that aired before it?

CBS should move Old Christine back to this spot permanently. A repeat got 2 million more viewers than an original does on Wednesday! And I don’t think there’s any question that this show is far better than Rules of Engagement.

I’m a little sad ’bout Chuck though.. it’s such a cute show, I don’t understand why people aren’t watching it

Your statement about Chuck being stand-alone is wrong. There is a mythology behind the show, which about half their episodes is focused on. I can understand why you think Chuck is so poor in quality if you had just watch the stand-alone episodes. Some of their stand-alone episode can be a little dull; such as the 3D episode.

Thankfully, the rest of season will focus on Fulcrum story-line.

Alex…you got to understand something. If a show is doing bad in the ratings, internet fans will ALWAYS blame the network for not advertising it enough-no matter how much they spent advertising it. Chuck has been advertised a lot. Chuck is like on my top 3 shows, I love it, my dad loves it…but if it can’t draw an audience, then speaking from buisness executive and not my fanboy side…Chuck isn’t profitable and shouldn’t stick.

But from a fanboy side….DON’T CANCEL CHUCK NBC!

If I knew that Heroes was airing 13 FINAL amazing, killer episodes, I would watch it.

I’m not sure a reduced budget would work for a show whose entire premise is about people with extraordinary superpowers. It’s bad enough with a high budget. Cheap, shlocky “The CW” style special effects would be pretty bad.

Instead of watching it die a slow death and be nothing like the great show it was during season 1, they should bring it full circle and set an end date, like LOST. I’ve said for along time that Heroes should be like Prison Break and Lost and have a set end date, preferably in a March-May block next Spring.

As far as Chuck goes, as much as I’d like to see it move to the Thursday Night comedy line-up logistically I can’t see it happening unless they make some major creative changes and make it a 30-minute show rather than an hour. Outside of that I’m not sure where they’d put it that wasn’t Monday at 8 or Friday nights.

Yes, NBC needs to move Heroes and/or Chuck off of Mondays. But where would they put it? NBC is now in the same pickle Fox is in with scheduling low-raters like Prison Break & Dollhouse. As far as NBC is concerned:
Tuesday is scheduled.
Thursday is mostly scheduled; this close to syndication, a Universal show (Earl) stays vs. a non-Universal show (Chuck), at least for next year.
Sunday (in Fall) is scheduled.
Friday & Saturday don’t get the viewers to warrant those programming costs.

Which leaves Monday & Wednesday. Sure, Chuck & Heroes would do better on Wednesday (at least if/until Lost shows up). But is it worth harming their (probably) L&O and (definitely) L&O:SVU numbers by sacrificing them on Mondays to improve Heroes up until midseason?

No, the best outcome is to bring Heroes back for a final season on Mondays, with a reduced budget and a smaller cast. Remember that NBC has a huge awkward break in the middle of the year due to the Olympics; introduce your show-ending villain in an end of November cliffhanger and hope people come back in March.

Or they could just cancel it. But what do you program Mondays at 9pm with? ABC has women locked up, CBS has comedies, Fox has action, CW (probably still) has young women. What does that leave NBC with?

P.S. Please don’t suggest NBC start a Friday action block. Just don’t.

As for Chuck it one of NBC’s best shows i hope it dosent get sucked under the wake of Heroes as that show sinks…

Seems any of the Good shows that are worthy of an audence- The networks dont know what to do with them- Even some of the old time faves are getting tiresome.
The unit is great example- i liked that show-and i could see in my mind how a network suit said how can we get more women to watch and had the units wives become defacto unit members..and the stories went as well…

I never watched Chuck so I won’t really miss it, but clearly NBC needs some more 1-hour shows of quality that aren’t a Law & Order franchise.
