“This Week” Continues Growth As It Closes Total Viewing Gaps With “Meet the Press”

TOTAL VIEWING GAPS WITH “MEET THE PRESS”

 

“THIS WEEK” CUTS VIEWING GAP WITH “MEET”

BY 58% VS. SAME WEEK LAST YEAR

 

 

According to Nielsen Media Research for Sunday February 22, ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” posted 3.52 million Total Viewers, a growth of 22% compared to the same week last year. Among Adults 25-54, This Week experienced the largest increase of the Sunday morning talk shows compared to last year, with 1.20 million A25-54 (+32%).

 

“This Week” continues to close the gaps with NBC’s “Meet the Press” Versus the same week last year, “This Week” cut the total viewing gap with “Meet” (620,000) by 58% and by 56% in the demo. Year to date, “This Week” is averaging 3.44 million Total Viewers and cutting into “Meet’s” total viewing lead (790,000) by 44%.

 

Season to date, “This Week” is in second place with an average of 3.39 million Total Viewers, a rise of 22% compared to 2008. First Quarter to date, “This Week” is up 15%, with 3.44 million Viewers, vs. 1Q 2008, while “Meet” is down 4% (4.23 million).

 

For the month of February 2009, “This Week” averaged 3.23 million Total Viewers, a growth of 9% compared to February 2008. “Meet the Press” in comparison averaged 4.02 million, a decline of 8% vs. last February, and CBS’ “Face the Nation” was up 3%, with 3.20 million for the month.

 

George Stephanopoulos is the anchor of “This Week” and Ian Cameron is the executive producer. The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
