Another Strong Week For “Nightline”

Nightline” INCREASES 24% IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND

 11% AMONG A25-54 VS. LAST YEAR

 

Nightline” OUTPERFORMS “LETTERMAN”

IN TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54

 

Nightline” CONTINUES TO CUT TOTAL VIEWING

AND ADULTS 25-54 GAPS WITH “LENO”

 

 

ABC News’ “Nightline” continues to grow season to date, first quarter to date, week to week and year to year, according to Nielsen Media Research for the week of February 16, 2009.

 

Compared to the same week last year, “Nightline” increased the most versus the competition among both Total Viewers and the key Adults 25-54 demographic. “Nightline” grew 24% in Total Viewers, while “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” declined 2%. Among Adults 25-54, “Nightline” is up 11%, while “Leno” declined 2% and “Letterman” decreased 3%.

 

“Nightline” posted 3.80 million Total Viewers, increasing 20% first quarter to date, while “Letterman” declined 5% and “Leno” remained flat.  Among the key Adults 25-54 demographic, "Nightline" posted 1.67 million, increasing 8% quarter to date, while “Letterman” dropped 11% and “Leno” declined 3%.

 

Season to date, “Nightline” increased 14% among Total Viewers and 5% among Adults 25-54. The program is also in second place among Adults 25-54 season to date.

 

Additionally, “Nightline” outperformed CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” among Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. “Nightline” also beat “Letterman” among Adults 18-49.

 

“Nightline” continues to close the A25-54 and total viewing gaps with NBC’s “Leno.” Compared to the same week last year, “Nightline” shrank the total viewing gap with “Leno” by 38% and the A25-54 gap by 27%. Year to date, “Nightline” shrank the total viewing gap with NBC by 33% and the A25-54 gap by 31%. 


 

 

ABC News’ “Nightline” is anchored by Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran and Martin Bashir. John Donvan and Vicki Mabrey are correspondents. James Goldston is the executive producer. The program airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m., ET on the ABC Television Network.
