Survivor definitely has an addictive quality. My only complaint is in recent years, they use puzzles much too often in challenges.

CSI has to thank Survivor for being a giant. CSI debuted on Friday and did nothing until CBS moved to the slot after Survivor, the rest as they say is history.

I like your unedited versions idea.

*thinks back to Richard Hatch walking around naked*
I don't like your unedited versions idea.

Survivor is awesome. Every new season is 16 more people you get to learn about and see how the react in those situations. Only think I would like to see are more physical challenges and maybe the unedited versions of the show!!!

"This is the only reality show that I watch on TV"

Me too. I don't know why, but it just feels different from all the other reality dreck out there. Psyched that there's going to be more coming, though it was pretty inevitable, seeing as how it's still one of CBS's top performers.

I suck at actually getting around to applying for this nonsense...told myself I'd be going in for the 19th installment (the one scheduled to air this Fall) and totally missed the cut-off date. Ah well.

And I'm sure everybody else here has their fingers crossed, as do I, that the rumored all winners edition is just around the corner...

A different and semi-diverse cast and new gameplay twists each season.

Still manages to be entertaining and interesting after 18 seasons.

I must say, the continued popularity of this item baffles me even more than the phenomenon of American Idol. In Survivor, contestants are picked through a screening process where no particular talent is necessary. Then, they backstab each other until only one remains - no audience participation in the voting.

How has Survivor not grown tiresome by now?

i just regergatated. I want to find the focus group that ok'd this show back in 2000 and push something heavy on them. This is when you have the unemployed and retired (focus groups) dictate what to bring out of idea/pilot.

Survivor is my favorite show on TV. Glad it will be back for more. Ideally, I'd like to see them run a Tuesday show and a Thursday show, but not let the contestants know. Then when they are down to 4 contestants on four tribes, they could surprise them by saying combining the two shows into one and giving out double the prize. I think this would give Survivor fans more of a fix without oversaturating the show. By the time the 2 new tribe of 8 were ready to merge, viewers would feel like they already knew the characters.
