I say CW would be crazy not to bring back The Game, that is one of their best shows on air. If they cancel The Game they would lose alot of the African American viewers.

Mischa Barton also dropped out of MELROSE PLACE for that part. So it’s a sign in my opinion that her agent believes what I believe that MELROSE PLACE likely won’t make it.

With regards to REAPER, it’s my understanding they have let their options on the cast lapse (they were cast two years ago). Whilst you could argue Tyler Labine could return if Fox fail to pick up “SONS OF TUCSON”, bare in mind they’ve (Fox) cast him as the lead roll. I think that tells you everything you need to know about REAPER.

Nick, fair enough, I guess what I’m feeling sure of is that unless the CW announces it has abandoned its target of women 18-34 between now and the upfronts, Reaper isn’t on the fall schedule anywhere between Mon-Thur.

Whether it’s Lily and Melrose, or Lily and Body Politic, or some pilot I’m not even aware of, I don’t think you’ll see Reaper in the fall on Mon-Thur even if it holds its current numbers.

Robert, I wouldn’t be too quick to jump on both LILY and MELROSE being solidly picked up yet. They’re doing some crazy stunt casting on MELROSE now with the Simpson girl. They wouldn’t have done that if they were as sure as you are about being picked up.

Jon, I believe that when an actor who is currently contractually obligated to another show signs up for a project, it is with the understanding that it is only if the other show doesn’t come back. It’s very easy to replace an actor from a pilot, and it happens all the time.

I agree with you RM/89, Ostroff kills everything she touches. I mean, sure she was semi-responsible for Buffy getting a bit of a start and what not, but since she’s been in charge of a network, she really runs them into the ground.

All of the shows you mentioned definitely did not deserve their cancellations. And as for the shows she’s put up, all except for Hidden Palms were god-awful. She really, truly needs to be replaced.

Also, and I know this might be a little off topic, but I’m new here/don’t know where to ask. But is there any indexes or ratings charts for MyNetworkTV?

Dawn Ostroff is a black widow. She taints everything she touches. I love Reaper, but somehow, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was cancelled. And I *don’t* want it to be cancelled. I half expected 90210 to take OTH’s timeslot when AI came around.

WB sunday and friday nights had some great performances. I’m not a numbers person, but if I can remember, Sunday night could get as high as 6 million viewers and Friday could get nearly 5 million.

“Sole destination for young women” my ass. Dear Dawn, thanx 4 cancelling Reba, VM, Everwood, Girlfriends and Modern Men and for picking up Life Is Wild, Farmer Wants a Wife, Crowned, Stylista, Runaway and Hidden Palms.

If history doesn’t repeat itself…

The CW has holes galore, Privliage is gone unless they can give CW a sweet mid-season deal. They need to prusue Sunday and Friday, also move Game/EHC/a new urban comedy behind Top Modle on Wed….MAyne try OTH and Reeper on Friday….Movies and Jericho reruns only work because they are dirt cheap, but UPN aired old movies for several years on Fri. never a ratings hit but always helped out the bottom line

Chuck will at least be a mid season on NBC they advertise the heck out of it and it is considered a hip show for NBC a network w/few braging rights…may move to Fridays but it will be back.

Terminater would be great if WB picked it up and put it w/ reaper on Sunday or Friday night…not going to happen but Terminater is a WB show so slightly possible.

As I recall, the renew/cancel index for Reaper last year was 1.06, so the 1.09 is an improvement. The unfortunate thing is that the CW insisted on CW-ising the show with the Sock and step-sister subplot, which is already getting aggravating. I can see borderline fans leaving the show as a result; but can’t really see any 18-34 females replacing them because, if they weren’t watching before, how will they know about this new subplot written in especially for them.

Reaper should be renewed. Its one of CW’s better shows and if it is renewed maybe when Smallville ends it can be paired with Supernatural on thursdays. Thats just my 2 cents. Here’s hoping for a renewal. Though I understand that Game and Chris are listed as in danger however CW may use them to start a new comedy block, or at the very least the more expensive and already picked up for syndication, Chris will be axed.

The only way Chuck is going to get picked up by The CW is through Josh Schwartz and Warner Bros. Dude’s already have two of his shows (GG & Lily) there, so why not have all and make it the Josh Schwartz network? Chuck & Reaper would make a good Friday night combo, in my opinion. But considering The CW’s insistency on W18-34 shows, I think it’s unlikely though there is a possibility.

Craig S, Privileged was down a bit this spring (from averaging around 0.9 to averaging around 0.7), which doesn’t seem like a whole lot, but it is enough. Also, while on most networks shows close to the edge have a chance, because Sundays drag down the average (making marginal shows look a bit better on the index), I don’t think that will be the case with the CW.

Craig S, while on other networks a show with an Index of 0.89 might be “on the bubble”, the absolute carnage for the CW on Sunday night lowers its average so much that for them 0.89 isn’t “bubble” its “dead”. That’s also why any slippage at all by Reaper and its gone.

Be interesting to see what happens to Reaper and is Priviliged definitely “not going to be coming back” because there is no room on CW’s fall schedule or because it’s last episodes were on a downward trend? I ask because it’s at a .89 which is low but not necessarily guaranteed cancellation, so I would think that while it’s not likely to get renewed, it still seems like a bubble show with some sort of chance. Already seeing shows below this index level on other networks returning, so wondering if someone has unofficially heard that it’s a goner.

in fairness to rupert, there was no new NBC thread when he wrote that though it will be up soon (patience!), and I’ll cut a tiny bit of slack since Chuck on CW is perhaps a legit question for this thread (btw, I personally don’t see it happening, David).

But, I’m with Julia. This should be used to discuss renewal prospects for CW shows! Although every show but Reaper and Privileged has been announced as renewed (or canceled)….

other than Dawn saying in the interview with Hibberd that they weren’t planning to give Sunday night back to the affiliates, nope. But she also indicated the movies were doing well on Sundays — which they kind of were until the Sunday after the report with her saying that ran.

to the chagrin of many, Gossip Girl spin-off (Lily) and Melrose Place currently seem like a lock. Lots of things can change, but until they do, if that’s the case CW will not need any extra shows for the Monday-Thursday lineup.

It will be interesting to see if CW would stick Reaper on Sundays or Fridays and/or use it (as perhaps a mid-season replacement like this year) to put in front of American Idol assuming Reaper’s ratings don’t deteriorate.
