The Secret Life of the American Teenager tops ABC Family highlights for first quarter of 2009

Powered by cable's No. 1 scripted series, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," and the No. 1 cable movie with "Another Cinderella Story," 1Q09 finished as ABC Family's most-watched quarter in the Net's history in Prime in Adults 18-34 (369,000), Women 18-34 (245,000), Viewers 12-34 (629,000) and Females 12-34 (439,000).  In addition, 1Q09 wrapped as the net's best 1Q ever in Total Viewers (1.4 million), Adults 18-49 (657,000) and Women 18-49 (418,000).

  • Setting new records in key demos, ABC Family was cable's No. 1 network in 1Q09 in Females 12-34, and delivered Top 5 ranks in Women 18-34 (#4), Women 18-49 (#5) and Viewers 12-34 (#5).
  • Impressively, "Secret Life" accounted for 1Q09's Top 10 scripted cable telecasts in Females 12-34.

  • ABC Family's breakout hit original series, "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," ranked as 1Q09's No. 1 cable series in Viewers 12-34 (2.6 million) and Females 12-34 (2.2 million), and the No. 1 scripted cable series in Women 18-34 (951,000).
  • "Secret Life" is television's No. 1 series of the 2008/09 season in Female Teens (1.26 million), topping Fox's juggernauts, "American Idol - Tuesday" (1.13 million) and "American Idol - Wednesday" (1.05 million).
  • The Movie Premiere Event ABC Family's "Another Cinderella Story" (1/18/09) positioned as 1Q09's No. 1 cable movie in Total Viewers (5.7 million), Women 18-34 (806,000), Women 18-49 (1.4 million), Viewers 12-34 (2.4 million) and Females 12-34 (2.0 million).
  • In Total Day, 1Q qualified as ABC Family's most-watched quarter of all time in Adults 18-34 (212,000) and Women 18-34 (151,000), and finished second among all quarters in Women 18-49 (240,000), Viewers 12-34 (341,000) and Females 12-34 (250,000).

o   1Q wrapped as the net's most-watched 1Q on record in Total Viewers (715,000) and Adults 18-49 (350,000).

  • In Total Day, ABC Family posted its 22nd straight quarter of year-to-year increases in Adults 18-34, with the streak at 23 quarters in Women 18-34 and Women 18-49 (dating back to 4Q03 and 3Q03, respectively). In Adults 18-49, the net posted its 8th straight quarter of year-to-year growth, with gains generated in 21 of the past 23 quarters overall (dates back to 3Q03).
  • ABC Family beat MTV in Primetime for the third straight quarter in Total Viewers (+64%, 1.41 million vs. 859,000), Adults 18-49 (+19%, 657,000 vs. 551,000) and Teens 12-17 (+37%, 260,000 vs. 190,000).
