The Fourth Hour of "Today" Posted Its Best Deliveries In W/M/A25-54 in a Quarter Ever
NEW YORK - April 2, 2009 - NBC News' "Today" is by far the morning news leader topping its competition by momentous margins for the first quarter 2009. America's favorite morning program attracted 5.8 million viewers for the quarter - more than a giant 1.2 million (25 percent) lead over GMA, and 2.8 million (92 percent) lead over "The Early Show." The win marks the 55th consecutive quarter "Today" has been the No. 1 morning news program. "Today" had its best win in homes since 1Q'04 and its second best 1Q total viewer advantage over GMA since 1Q'04.
For the quarter, "Today" led with a 4.4 household rating/15 share and 5.8 million viewers. "GMA" trailed with a 3.5/12 and 4.7 million viewers. CBS' "The Early Show" remained in third place with a 2.3/8 and 3.0 million viewers.
In A25-54, "Today" led GMA by 24 percent and beat Early Show by a massive 91 percent. In A18-49, "Today" outperformed GMA by 23 percent and Early Show by 100 percent.
For the quarter, "Today II" out-rated CBS Early Show in homes, total viewers, and key demos for the quarter. "Today II" outperformed The View in M25-54. "Today II" also posted gains in both total viewers and A25-54 compared to 1Q'08. "Today III" posted its best deliveries in W/M/A25-54 in a quarter ever. Year-to-year, "Today III" has grown by 1% in A25-54.
