NBC did a crap job advertising “Kings”. I saw one article in Time magazine and just by chance on Hulu. I didn’t even know that it was on cable. It’s a fantastic show (in my opinion the best since “House”. It had huge potential and was something new, but you can’t compete with “The Simpsons”. CMA’s? Extreme Makeover? People actually watch that crap? Maybe if DVD sales are insanely wonderful they’ll bring it back. Probably not, but I can dream.

I’ll be amazed if NBC manage to make back any of the $60 million they’ve spent on Kings. Unless they’re planning to sell the DVD at a couple of hundred thousand dollars each…

King’s rating are really bad I wonder why no one watches that show especially the director of most of the episodes are the director of I Am Legend

The “Southland” pilot was a dud. It took 38 minutes to get going, and by the time it did, it was gone. I didn’t care about any of the characters, and you won’t either. I couldn’t even tell two of the characters apart. John Wells has a great batting average at NBC (and a .000 record elsewhere), but this show doesn’t have the “it factor” that “ER,” “Third Watch” and “The West Wing” did. Hell, it doesn’t even have the “it factor” of “Trinity” — which was canned after a month.

“P&R” is sight unseen, but the promos give me no reason to doubt that it will do for Daniels and Schur what “American Dad” did for Seth McFarlane — prove the one-trick-pony label justified. Oh, but I forgot. It’s from Reveille. Who cares if it flops?

Rolling out the red carpet for The Celebrity Apprentice, huh? My dream is for NBC to become all reality TV all the time. I’m sure millions of Americans would love that – a 24/7 reality TV channel. More celebs! More fluff! More gossip! More TRASH!

Riff, Southland and Parks may very well bomb hard, but don’t count them out yet.

Parks is from the creators of NBC’s most popular show, and while it’s future is most definately uncertain, I think it’s the *closest* thing to a sure thing NBC has had in a while.

As for Southland, it may fail, but it does have the advantage of airing after NBC’s strongest single hour on their entire schedule.

As always, we shall see.

As per comment above: Sunday night is the only night 18-49 watches as much at ten as at nine. This I say intuitively wo checking numbers but its a phenomenon i’ve noticed for a while. I’m not even sure ANY night sees as many 18-49 at ten. Also, it’s becoming interesting if Bro and Sis goes to ten some night. I beleive with time it could skew older with a fairly loyal audience. Older women like Sally Fields big time, there’s also Callista and Rob Lowe ( I think.) I know there are differing opinions on that among posters here. I notice too that nets who snag the mid-level specials ( ABC is clever on that ) can pad their ratings – CBS gave us an example Sunday night.

Watched Kings last night because of Ian McShane (Deadwood greatest tv show of all time!) which I’m thinking is really a Sopranos wannabe. (minus the good stuff-sex,violence,etc.)
Stayed around for Celebrity Apprentice.
By the end of the show I was checking to make sure I didn’t have any All detergent in my house! Went to an NBC forum to vent my displeasure, registered and then got this message:

From reading other posters on that site, I can tell you that a lot of people are mad at Trump and it just might affect next week’s ratings.

I don’t understand why Fox programmed so many reruns. Last week when ABC showed reruns they seemed to get a ratings boost. With no competition from ABC they should have taken full advantage of this opportunity.

Alex, that is an option with SVU at 10, but they are getting close to L&O saturation. After Life ends Wednesdays and Saturdays are both 3 hours of L&O each, plus Tuesday at 10pm means 7 hours all told. Adding anymore just seems like overkill. Where are three or four hours of Deal Or No Deal when you need them!

I was unsure of Kings at first, but the show seems to be the real deal. And the production is still stunningly beautiful, there really hasn’t been much of a drop off since the premiere. The acting is good, and there are tons of interesting plot lines to follow.

Michael I’d agree if I thought NBC had anything they could move into the slot and see major improvements on but I’m not really sure what they’ve got up their sleeves – especially not whilst they’re filling the Wednesday night slot as well.

Two hours of Dateline is an option but it doesn’t strike me as a great idea. I suppose they could move The Apprentice to 8 and slot an SVU repeat in at 10. That would likely do better numbers I guess. I’m just not sure what they fill Sunday 8PM with at this point.

NBC is really hurting. A .8 in the demo for Kings is just awful. They better hope Parks & Recreation and Southland take off, especially with all the promos they have been airing.

I’m really not sure what NBC can do with Kings at this point.

When you’re spending a reported $4 million per episode its hard to see how you can send it to Saturday even when the numbers are that low. Maybe shifting it to Friday at 10 and doubling up on Dateline Sunday nights could work. Or you could shift The Apprentice to 8 and put Kings at 10. I don’t think that’s going to change the numbers but The Apprentice looks as if it gets hammered by the Kings lead-in.

Good for CBS, Fox and very bad for NBC. CA is going down and Kings is… who knows what Kings is, anyway. I watched 60 Minutes, then Fox. My god, the new Simpsons was awesome! Sure, the show’s not what it used to be, but they still deliver 2 or 3 great episodes in a new season.
I think NBC will move Kings to Saturday after easter weekend. They can blow new episodes in less competitive timeslots.

Bill — I ascribe the drop in Celebrity Apprentice ratings to the Rodman effect! Dennis Rodman was fired last week and gone from the show (he was fired for drinking on the job — doesn’t make him a great employee, but makes for entertaining drama at least)*

*I’m not watching Celebrity Apprentice but I DVR Kings a few minutes past the hour and I saw the “previously on Celebrity Apprentice”

Holy crap NBC…

NBC seriously needs to start thinking about promoting off network more. How can they expect new shows to launch when nobody’s watching their old shows?

I know it’s super expensive, but perhaps they can cutback on network promotion and sell the add time. I mean 2 P&R and 2 Southland commercials per commercial break during the ER finale was just overkill.

I guess that’s assuming NBC can still sell ad time…

FrankJ, there are fewer people watching at 10pm, but numbers for Celebrity Apprentice could be explained by shift from cable shows, or simply shift from Fox shows at 10pm.

And the CMA were nearly exactly the same in the 18-49 demo at 9-10 and at 10-11.

Kings is probably the best show on TV that nobody is watching (2nd to Damages). It has a great story, good actors and it’s visually enjoyable to watch. It looks though like it may finish it’s run on Saturdays for the last 11 episodes. I doubt NBC doesn’t air the episodes though.

Kings is ok and moderately interesting, but it will almost certainly be beheaded. Cant say I will shed a tear over its demise. Since the story is not really going anywhere in particular (except maybe tank guy replacing the current king, it probably doesnt matter when they axe it.

Celebritiy Apprentice got battered, yes, but look at that half hour demo spread: 2.2, 2.6, 3.0, 3.2.

One full point, and two million more viewers. The music awards did the same one point jump in the demo, but in the first hour. Are there that many more people watching TV at 10pm as opposed to 9pm?

It should be noted that Friday Night Lights got a better demo than Kings and Howie Do It tied it in the demo.And both shows got about as many viewers. And they were on Fridays. What is NBC going to do with Kings? Are they going to banish it to Fridays or Saturdays or yank it off the air?
