"THIS WEEK" CLOSES TOTAL VIEWING GAP WITH

"MEET THE PRESS" FOR 10TH STRAIGHT WEEK

"THIS WEEK" CUTS TOTAL VIEWING GAP WITH

"MEET" BY 71% VS. LAST YEAR

According to Nielsen Media Research, ABC News'"This Week with George Stephanopoulos" on Sunday, April 5 closed the total viewing gap with NBC's "Meet the Press" for the 10th consecutive week versus the same weeks last year. Reporting 3.14 million Total Viewers to "Meet's" 3.34 million - a difference of only 200,000 - "This Week" cut the total viewing gap with "Meet" by a whopping 71% (480,000) year to year.

Among the three Sunday shows, "This Week" gained the most in Total Viewers (+12%) year to year and was the only program to grow versus the prior week (+1%).  "Meet the Press" in comparison declined 15% week to week and -4% year to year.

"This Week" continues to close the gap with "Meet" year to date as well. For 2009 so far, "This Week" has cut the total viewing gap with "Meet" by 42% (770,000 in 2009 vs. 1,320,000 in 2008).

Season to date, "This Week" continues to dominate the second place position, with an average of 3.35 million Total Viewers, a growth of 19% compared to 2008.

Ten ABC stations broadcasted "This Week" out of pattern last Sunday due to NBA Basketball.

George Stephanopoulos is the anchor of "This Week" and Ian Cameron is the executive producer. The program airs Sundays on the ABC Television Network.
