A very competitive night with FOX and CBS in a dead heat with adults 18-49 and FOX winning with adults 18-34. After last Monday's college basketball, CBS was back to its well-performing comedies and CSI: Miami.
House led the 8pm hour with a 4.5 rating with adults 18-49. At 9pm the CBS combo of Two and Half Men and Rules of Engagement bested ABC's combination of the final half hour of Dancing with the Stars and Surviving Suburbia.
At 10pm, CSI: Miami easily ruled above all other shows with a 3.8 rating with adults 18-49.
What about Chuck? Last night Chuck averaged a 2.3 (or a 2.25, if you want to split hairs) with adults 18-49, and last week it averaged a 2.1/5. Heroes was also up noticeably to a 3.2 rating with adults 18-49, rebounding from last week's series low when it had a 2.6.
Surviving Suburbia's 2.8 rating with adults 18-49 in its second week will have the retentionistas talking. It won't help Castle's fight to stay alive any, either. Castle dropped to a series-low 2.0 rating with Adults 18-49.
Previous Monday overnight reports are available for comparison.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Yes! Chuck has gone up! I’ve been waiting ages for these overnights thanks
Say “Goodbye Castle” I’m sure it will complete it’s run, but with a 2.0, it’s not coming back.
Glad to see Chuck went up a bit!
Chuck is not returning.
That spike of Medium was very weird.
Heroes seems to have rebounded- maybe Fuller will be able to save the show.
Castle’s done for-it’s being beaten by Medium. OTOH,if Medium keeps doing this well, it will probably be renewed.
That is an amazing hold from last week for Surviving Suburbia, I was actually expecting a huge drop-off for it like around the 8-9 million viewers range with a Christine type demo. For SS to hold that well week to week, that means that it might be end up being a real winner for the network down the line. I thought Rules was going to hurt its numbers big time.
I think SS doesn’t actually need the boost behind a big lead-in unlike most shows because it can stand on its own. I hope ABC tests it out before the season ends on Thursday at 8pm.
You really can’t compare SS to Samantha Who because SS will have a different trend in its ratings long-term than SW did.
I feel really bad about Castle’s number, it looks like Miami really killed it. I think ABC could still keep it around next season but they have to move it away from CBS crime dramas like a lot of you on here have mentioned. If the show is that good quality wise then why cancel it when it still have a chance to a Bones number in its second or third season.
cool says:
Chuck is not returning.

Do you know something the rest of us do not? If so, please share!
Holly, I’m with you. Castle had a 2.2 the first half hour, but dropped to a 1.9 for the second.
Nice to see Heroes up. Maybe the word is spreading of the improved writing. NBC’s gotta be loving Bryan Fuller about now!
Oh yeah! Heroes are up! They beated 24 in 18-34!
“I’ve been waiting ages for these overnights thanks”
Didn’t you just wait…overnight…for the overnights? LOL
Ava, no.. I only want to see how Chuck fans react!
Dario, in the most important demo (18-49) 24 beat Heroes.
Cool, you used to be so nice. I’m afraid this blog has been a bad influence on you
this made my day! , Come on NBC renew Chuck!
Cool, enough! Can’t the Chuck lovers rejoice for five minutes before you have to jump in with your negativity?
Chuck was up! Heroes was up! I am happy!
And how awesome was Chuck last night! Best. Episode. Ever. I love the direction they seem to be taking it in!
Looks like Suburbia won’t survive. I understand why ABC tried it… Bob Sagat in a family comedy coming out of a huge audience of women… But the show itself is so poorly written and Sagat is so blah in it. Too bad, this could’ve worked if the show was actually funny.
Cool, sorry to burst your bubble but because NBC execs love the show and it gets good reviews Chuck will probably come back. If it was on any other netwrok and got these numbers it would be canned though.
Before this, I had thought Castle had a fighting chance to return. Not anymore!
It looks like the Alphabet finally found their According to Jim replacement in Surviving Suburbia. It barely dropped from its premiere and did a good job against Rules.
I liked Castle last night but the story was the weakest so far, I’m not surprised it dropped off towards the end. I hope it sticks around anyway, television without Fillion sucks, hard.
