Is there enough money in hockey for NBC to expand their coverage – maybe offering weekend prime-time games, during the playoffs, on the broacast net?

It looks like the NHL is about to see a huge peak period for their sport in the next decade with most of the important franchises like the Blackhawks, Rangers, and Bruins all getting back on track. Sidney Crosby and the Pens will help them too. Wings will also help them too.

I still think that the NHL either needs to move back to ESPN or another network that serves over 90 million households or Versus needs to try to get into 90-95 million households so their ratings can touch around million viewers like Canada’s ratings.

Ryan, unfortunately ratings info for Thursday night isn’t available until Friday at around 11am ET. The NHL data will probably be catch as catch can, I might see it sometimes like this (it’s not the sort of thing we have regular or easy access too) and if I do, I will post it, but I am not expecting we will see this regularly for every night of the NHL playoffs.

I’m glad you published these numbers. I am a huge hockey fan and I am really curious about the TV Ratings for Hockey! Keep up the Good Work. BTW, what were the ratings on tonight’s Sharks Game vs. Anaheim?

Doug, you mean CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Company)…CBS is American

For those not in the know, CBS, TSN and RDS are Canadian channels. The first one is the national public broadcast, the second is the Canadian equivalent of ESPN, and RDS is TSN’s French language counterpart.

LET’S GO PENS!!!!! I don’t know the numbers, of course, but our local Fox Sports outlet was pleased with last night’s ratings course . Good to see some other markets watched as well.

The Pens renewed their radio broadcast contract today too, on “alternative” station 105.9 FM. Yay Pens!!!
