We don't usually post any info on press releases regarding specific show episodes, but I read them because it's the only way I typically see stuff like this, with regard to Thursday, April 30:
Note: This program replaces the previously scheduled episodes of "In the Motherhood" and "Samantha Who?"
Given the performance of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who? from 8pm-9pm on Thursdays, it's not a particular surprise for Ugly Betty to come back a week ahead of schedule. No word on when those bumped episodes of In The Motherhood and Samantha Who? will run.

This episode of "Ugly Betty"

This can only be good news for Ugly Betty… as a 4th season hasnt been 100% confirmed yet, however i think the 4th will be the last!
Josh, when the head of ABC says Betty is coming back next fall (as he did in an interview on March 5), Betty is coming back.
So this is good news that they have faith in Ugly Betty, but what does this mean for sam who and motherhood? Am i right in saying motherhood will have 1 episode left and 7 of sam who.
Does this mean motherhood is over and they won’t air that episode, and they are keeping sam who to air with something else to give it a second chance
yes, in the motherhood is canceled. Robert just told me that
David, I think you are correct about In The Motherhood, as for SW? I can’t remember. UB was always scheduled to come back on 5/7, so this was only a week ahead of schedule. So SW? was always getting bumped, but how/where I don’t recall.
SW? has six (I think?) episodes that were never scheduled to air, with the assumption that they would be held for next season. Either this will just be one more tacked on to next season or one more for DVD only, depending on whether it gets renewed.
They can cancel In the Motherhood? anyday but SW? no
, I love Christina Applegate! WE NEED MORE SW? POSTS!!! haha LOL.
seriously, didn’t SW? was averaging like 14 million viewers last fall?
cool SW only reached that number of viewers when it was on after DWTS. Either ABC was too confident in the show, or they knew that it wouldn’t work anywhere else besides after DWTS and have decided that it’s worth scrapping and finishing its run anywhere they need a plug in the schedule. Do you think they would move Desperate Housewives, or Grey’s Anatomy around the schedule they way they do SW?
i guess this means another episode of Samantha Who? will join the other 5 episode they shot for next season giving them 6 episode ready for season 3
Motherhood i belive is cancelled
I wish someone would put us out of our misery and get rid of this GOD-AWFUL show. It is beyond a doubt the most over-hyped unfunny BAD show I have ever seen !!!!
I would agree with the basic wisedom that this is not so much a good sign for Ugly Betty but more a bad sign for In The Motherhood and Samantha Who?
Not surprised by this at all. In the Motherhood was tanking and Samantha Who? wasn’t doing much better. They were basically killing ABC’s Thursday numbers.
s,
They didn’t shoot those five episodes for next season. They ordered 20 episodes for this season, but with the big delay only planned to air 15 total (now 14). Yeah, they may get bumped to next season, but this isn’t good at all. I hope Sam doesn’t get cancelled, it’s my favorite show and really the only one I care anything about.
I used to be an avid fan of Ugly Betty, but the last season has been excruciatingly bad. I could go into specifics, but I’ll spare you. Samantha Who?, on the other hand, has been of a consistently high quality, and it bums me out to see it getting batted around like an afterthought. Sadness.
This is no surprise to me. Everyone was harping two months ago about the likelihood of Ugly Betty being cancelled, and I posted a couple of times that once ABC sees the ratings of In the Motherhood and Samantha Who, they will rush Ugly Betty back to the schedule as fast as they can, and also renew the show. I am not always right, but this time I was. This should allow three of the four remaining Ugly Betty episodes to air during sweeps (Apr 30, May 7, and May 14), with the season finale airing one day after sweeps finishes (May 21).
ABC would be better off airing a comedy about a Chinese soft porn star, called “Samantha Hu!”, rather than “Samantha Who?”
As for Ugly Betty, I wonder how the hiatus will hurt its numbers, or if ABC will put full promo resources behind it, as they surely will for Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice (which they will need to do, since it is sweeps, and since NBC should (had better, so they probably won’t!) pull out all the stops for its slate, to try to make ABC’s execs look as bad as NBC’s (hard to imagine, but ABC isn’t in that great of shape, schedule-wise, for next season).
they dont have much time to get word out on this change, i still see may 7th as the full comeback for the show. i dont get why some see this as bad for betty? … lol?
Even if Ugly Betty has been crap lately, in quality and ratings, they’ll probably want it back at least for a fifth season to complete the 100 episodes needed for syndication. Mooolaaaa.
why Wilhelmina hasn’t been very maternal. We know she only had the baby to get control of Meade Enterprises, but still, I thought that once the baby was born, some maternal instincts might kick in.
Chris i know that but the cast have been talking about those episodes as though they are in season 3 and its already a done deal.
