WINS THE WEEK – BEATING THE COMPETITION IN TOTAL VIEWERS, A25-54 AND HOMES
NEW YORK – April 21, 2009 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of April 13-19, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 8.434 million total viewers, +470K more than ABC "World News'" 7.964 million, and +2.491 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 5.943 million. Season-to-date "Nightly" leads ABC by 790K viewers.
"Nightly" has won for 27 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 21 straight weeks in A25-54. Versus the same week last season, "Nightly" increased in total viewers (+3% or +260,000).
Among the key demographic adults 25-54, "Nightly News" posted a 1.9 rating, ahead of ABC's 1.8 rating and CBS' 1.4 rating. "Nightly" led "World News" by +164,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date "Nightly" leads ABC by 302K A25-54 viewers. Versus the same week last season, Nightly increased +12% in rating M25-54.
In homes, "Nightly News" won with a 5.6 rating and a 12 share. In second place ABC drew a 5.4/11, and CBS posted a 4.0/8.
…and this is the only thing NBC can win—- my advice to NBC:
become an all sports AND news network(s)- but fire Olbermann first….
Good ratings, I watch nbc every night, tonight Brian didn’t mention the Miss California answer to that question of Gay Marriage. I am outraged at that Perez Hilton, who ever he is, that he can say whatever he feels like, and can get his little temper up, because Miss California exercised her right to the first amendment, The Right To Free Speech, [in case nobody remembers] and didn’t give the answer he wanted. I live in Vt, and am not Gay, I believe marriage, is the very reason God created Eve, and gave Adam a wife. Remember my friends, if he hadn’t created Eve, and made it Steve, none of us would be here today! ever think about that one! Give Miss California some slack, embrace that she has the courage, to say her beliefs in such a big competition, and let no man condemn her, or in this case belittle her for her beliefs. This is not equal, the scales are not balanced here.. I’m madd thanks… Doug C.
Who would watch the network that spins information..?? NBC NEWS is no different than their sister network, MSNBC NEWS…I would suggest that if you want the facts and the truth watch ABC NEWS with Charles Gibson..
