THE EARLY SHOW (2.3/8, 3.08m) is the only network morning news broadcast to post an increase in households for the week of April 13, compared to the same period last year. The CBS broadcast also posted a double-digit percentage increase in total viewers for the week. THE EARLY SHOW featured several breaking news stories last week, as well as an exclusive interview and performance by “Britain’s Got Talent” sensation Susan Boyle. The Scottish singer’s EARLY SHOW performance was streamed on CBSNews.com and its partner sites an unprecedented 1.28 million times in the first 72 hours it was available on the Web.
For the week of April 13, THE EARLY SHOW increased its total viewers by +11% (3.08m from 2.77m), compared to the same week last year. Among viewers, NBC’s “Today” increased +1% (5.71m from 5.64m) and ABC’s “Good Morning America” increased +4% (4.61m from 4.44m) compared to the same week last year.
In households, THE EARLY SHOW increased by +5% (2.3/8 from 2.2/7), while “Today” decreased by -2% (4.3/15 from 4.4/15) and “GMA” was flat (3.5/12), compared to the same period last year.
