TV Week reports that the president is looking to take the airwaves again at 8pm next Wednesday, April 29.  The first Wednesday of May sweeps (yes, I realize it's still April, but...).   So far there is no confirmation that it will happen, but the confirmation seems like a mere formality.  Here's what will be impacted if it happens:

ABC: Scrubs, Better Off  Ted

CBS:   According to my program guide, CBS has a new episode of Rules of Engagement scheduled for next Wednesday at 8pm, leading into a new episode of The New Adventures of Old Christine at 8:30pm

FOX: Lie To Me

NBC: Law & Order (Repeat)

  1. cool

Better Off Ted has their series finale next Wednesday too.

  2. Interesting schedule change there for CBS. They really are just playing around with everything at this point. They are in the enviable position of being able to do that.

  3. Alex

CBS are making some interesting/weird schedule changes at the moment that could very well play into their line-up next year.

And Lie To Me off the air for another week I wonder if Fox will consider shifting it around the schedule a bit to keep themselves on track although its not quite as big as the delays for Bones.

I’m just gonna say what many people are thinking… phew…. not Monday this time!

  5. Catherine

President Obama does seem to be mixing up the days he requests. Bush pretty much always (except for State of Union which is mandated to be on a Tuesday) had his special messages on Thursdays.

  6. Not Monday – good news for Chuck?

  7. I’m very glad it’s not Monday because I can just imagine the uproar, but I would find it amusing if the season (?) finale of Chuck aired May 4th and everyone was awaiting the ratings and the upfront news on the 5th. If that did happen, I would hope any server issues would be fixed before then. ;)

FOX must be getting tired of these premptions and it’s affecting Lie to Me which along with Bones has taken the brunt of the premptions from Obama and Idol. I think FOX will either tack it an episode into season 2 or not show the speech at all.

MSNBC and FOX News must be rubbing their hands with glee.

  9. Anthony

This is going to make the Scrubs finale air the same night as the Lost finale, which sucks. Screw off Obama.

  10. MNIS

wtf why does he have to do this every five seconds?

i don’t really care what empty promises he has next

  11. Josh Emerson

Phew. I’m a big supporter of the President, but I would’ve been pissed if he had chosen Monday. Delaying Christine and Scrubs isn’t a big deal to me!

  12. Imaginary headline from November, 2012 “President Obama Defeat Tied to 2009 Chuck Pre-Emptions” ;)

  13. Evil

Actually, I am wondering, is it up to the networks if they want to air Obamas speeches? Or can they say no? Is there any kind of law for this kind of thing?

  14. Evil, there is no law requiring the President be given airtime.

  15. melbye

I kinda wish ABC would push their comedy block to 9 and LOST to 10. It’s not like they have a hit at 10, but of course they won’t do that

  16. Paul

Is it only me, or does it seem like he has a lot more prime time speeches than either Bush or Clinton?

  17. chris

i have had just about enough of this idiot.

  18. Mega64

So people will actually be watching TV for once on 8pm Wednesday?

  19. Alex

Paul he does seem to be shooting for a prime time address every month perhaps he’s afriad America will forget who he is? It is getting a little absurd now.

Maybe NBC can offer him a Friday night show next year? Did someone say a Howie Mandell, President Obama double act?

  20. David

Thankfully there are over 100 cable channels that will not be airing this nonsense.
