Alex Smith… hahaha
I believe one of the reasons for the increased viewership is how ESPN is now trying to cover all the athletes instead of the top five. With all of the ESPN channels, this is possible. Every college seems to have a state in the draft and in every round.
You know as much about a third round pick as you do a first round pick.
This is probably stupid, but I think I enjoy the Draft more than I enjoy the Super Bowl. Though, i’d bet most of that probably has to do with the Packers not being in the Super Bowl in 11 or 12 years.
VlogHog, I agree with you on that, yet to add on here, beyond the money and media presence invested by ESPN and other networks into the NFL, it’s well documented that there’s a greater synergy between the league and the NCAA in terms of coaches moving back and forth between both levels of play. It’s far easier to see in a CFB game which players might have the makings of at least a serviceable pro, if not star in the NFL than any other sport. It makes the Draft that much more compelling for fans as they can learn as much about their third (and lower) rounders as the first.
