WINS THE WEEK – BEATING THE COMPETITION IN TOTAL VIEWERS, A25-54 AND HOMES
NEW YORK – April 28, 2009 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of April 20-26, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 8.105 million total viewers, +670K more than ABC "World News'" 7.435 million, and +2.357 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 5.748 million. Season-to-date "Nightly" leads ABC by 791K viewers.
"Nightly" has won for 28 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 22 straight weeks in A25-54. Versus the same week last season, "Nightly" increased in total viewers (+1% or +95,000).
Among the key demographic adults 25-54, "Nightly News" delivered a 2.0 rating, ahead of ABC's 1.7 rating and CBS' 1.4 rating. "Nightly" led "World News" by +321,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date "Nightly" leads ABC by 305K A25-54 viewers. Versus the same week last season, Nightly increased in rating W/M/A25-54 (+5%/+6%/+5%).
In homes, "Nightly News" won with a 5.5 rating and a 12 share. In second place ABC drew a 5.1/11, and CBS posted a 4.0/8.
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 3.6 million online streams for the week ending April 25, 2009.
