I can't stand Heroes anymore. Why hasn't NBC canceled this? Oh, yeah because Ben Silverman and Jeff Zucker are ruining the network. The only episode I've liked so far is the one written by Bryan Fuller. To me, Fuller is to Heroes what Richard Donner was to Superman. Without them, both projects tanked. Heroes S1 was great, Supeerman I was great. Heroes S2 was good but not as good as the 1st. Superman 2 was good, but not as good as the 1st. But, then came Heroes S3 and Superman 3 and the plot holes were so big and laughably bad in both of those, that they fill up the pyramids in Egypt.

Whoa whoa, hold on a second Mike. Are you saying Quinto is heading to Fringe? That's the first I've heard of that. It'd be great if that were true, but isn't he a bit tied up with Heroes right now?

Chuck better come back. NBC just needs to realize they need to find a timeslot for it where it is not in competition with established juggernauts like House and Dancing with the Stars. The finale(hopefully season) was excellent. It's rare that every character on a show can be a favorite. Bring back Chuck! Heroes, which I have defended, has lost its luster. Medium, which I watch every week as well is just average. Nothing spectacular, but definitely worth watching.

Richard Steven Hack said.

'kid found in abandoned building that was sealed for 75 years! One of Fringe’s weaker episodes in my opinion.'

I thought so as well a bit slow not too out there until the observer showed up at the very end watching over the boy. There is more to come from him and maybe that boy, it felt like they where planting a seed to grow later.

Still think its been a rock solid first year and waiting for Mr. Spock.
He'll will probably add a million viewers to the show.

Is it May 19 yet? All this waiting is going to give me a heart attack. Haha! Yey, a bit of good news for Castle. I like what the other poster said about how ABC is still trying to promote the show with the stars still making appearances on DWTS, and a late night show. Makes me feel that ABC hasn't completely given up on Castle.

I think NBC should cancel all Law and Orders... (arent' they basically the same stories over and over, slightly tweeked..?... although I haven't been watching lately)... Criminal Intent with Vincent Denofrio is pretty good I guess, only because he is such and AMAZING actor..

They should cancel Dateline... boring, boring...

Get rid of Earl and Kath and Kim, deffinately...

That is at least 4 hours right there...

Keep Chuck!!! I am totally adicted. I love Lost and 24, but Chuck is the show I REALLY look forward to each week...

"Essentially, Tim Kring learned nothing from Joss Whedon–particularly not the fact that villains have to have a shelf life in order for there to be any hope at all."

That's without saying. Tim Kring would learn nothing from Joss Whedon because he doesn't care about pulling out a quality show for superhero fans. Personally, Tim Kring was not qualified to make a show about heroes in the first place. If you look at his IMDB, you would see he made three straight medical shows before deciding to be the showrunner for heroes since he didn't want to be pigeonholed as the guy who does medical shows. Now what's happened? People are not watching.

Then again, that's to be expected from a guy who has only read one comic book (Richie Rich) and who doesn't know the difference between Magneto and Wolverine. It is shameful and sad. If Joss Whedon ran this show, I would be elated, but that's never going to happen since he's affiliated to FOX. As much as Bryan Fuller is a good writer, don't expect him to run the writer's room as Kring will probably not let that happen. Don't forget, NBC thinks "he's a genius." Why else would they remove Jeff Loeb as a writer for the show?

The saddest thing about all this is Heroes was renewed because NBC is in decline. They've put too much money on this show to see it fail. And since there is nothing better to watch on TV, people will keep watching it, hoping it will get better. It won't, and NBC knows that, but they will continue to try and convince people to keep watching instead of making real changes to the show. Money is their motive, nothing more or less.

Others may have thought of this, but I have felt Chuck with its fan base and decent DVR numbers should be moved to a less competitive night. Couldn't decent DVR viewing, while ambiguous from an ad point of view, justify moving a show to a night with a better lead-in and less brutal 18-49 competition? Also, I didn't like the first two episodes of Castle and stopped watching it. But word of mouth indicates its improved a little. I tend to agree with the majority that it might get 13 new shows for fall, and is the only new ABC scripted show not an abject failure.( Survivng Suburbia with these numbers surely won't survive.)

Tony says:Bruce W. I read that interview he was pretty cryptic. I don’t think it can go back exactly to the way it was to much has been said/done. Probably have a secret relationship or something if it comes back. Chuck may be the asset but he becoming a spy now which puts him on more equal footing. Plus it seems to be going toward the comics in which Sarah/Chuck are married so that should give you a hint!

Yes it will, which is why it was a cop out not having the two leads declare their feelings for each other before the game-changer happened. Sarah rejected Bryce(spy life) for Chuck(normal life). Now Chuck takes up the mantle for Bryce becoming the "super" Intersect. Chuck now becomes that which she just rejected. The angst will continue. (I read the comic series too.)

The relationship pattern that JS/CF write is now predictable. Everytime Chuck and Sarah get closer, Bryce Larkin pops up and drives the wedge between them. His death leaves a BIG wedge in their relationship. Now when Jill pops up(you know it's going to happen again), Sarah will probably declare her love for Chuck to hear himself.

With that said, I still think the show deserves a third season. It will probably be the last season anyway.

Now Chuck takes up the mantle for Bryce becoming the “super” Intersect. Chuck now becomes that which she just rejected. The angst will continue. (I read the comic series too.)

Bruce W., that's not really what Schwartz said. The way he worded it, you get the impression that Chuck will have to work through mastering his new abilities (are they permanent, do they turn off, will he forget them?) before the government decides he's a spy and not an asset who needs protection. He also said that one of the major focuses of the next season (should they have one) would be Chuck and Sarah's relationship.

Big but disapointed Chuck Fan here. First let me state that I think that the show is coming back next year with the minimum episodes. I felt that Chuck vs. The Colonel was the perfect season finale in which if the show ended, you could leave satified.

It wasn't the finale, Chuck vs. The Ring was. I felt like Schwartz and Fedak "punked" me with the way they handled the Chuck and Sarah relationship. Instead of showing the two tell each other how they feel, they chicken out. Bryce Larkin's death created the wedge between them. And in an interview with TV Guide, Josh Schwartz said that the Chuck and Sarah relationship is returning back to the status quo, asset and handler. What a cop out. Why do TV shows believe that if you have two love interest couple up, the show has to end?

I think people judge shows to harshly, sometimes you don't need to worry about the exact logic on how someone was able to do something in the show, just enjoy it.

I am a fan of both Heroes and Chuck and I loved the season finale's for both.

"Heroes has officially become the worst show in television history. It may come back next year, but I’ll be very surprised if any viewers do."

Why do you say that?

Have you actually SEEN Hole in the Wall?

Oh for christ sake, enough with the Heroes-x-men analogies. You people are morons.
so according to your logic any form of entertainment dealing with super heroes is the same exact thing. heroes, the 4400, x-men, spiderman, batman, superman, watchmen, etc... there all the same thing right?
No. Heroes has had a HUGE upturn in quality this volume and the finale further proved that. And why cant chuck and heroes co-exist?! They are both great shows, although I personally think heroes is better.

House is in a really weird time slot for a show like House and I think that most people will agree that it is being widely DVRed in that slot. BBT and Chuck shouldn't be pitted against one another because they appeal to the same audience. I usually watch BBT live and then flip to my 30 minutes in recording of Chuck so I can fast forward through commercials. After Chuck, I watch the recording of HIMYM which, I agree with whoever said above, is sucking this season and I'm about ready for him to meet the mother. I haven't even bothered to watch last night's episode yet. Was it new?

Mondays @ 8p is easily the most competitive time slot currently on network television and there are a lot of people who do not now and will not ever like Chuck because they don't like that brand of humor. But there are a lot of people who are watching BBT who would love Chuck and can't watch it because they don't have a DVR and they have to choose. I didn't get INTO Chuck in a defending it in forums kind of way until the second half of this season and I think that a lot of people just haven't found it yet.

I've speculated for a while now that it would perform really well as a sandwich between Ugly Betty & Greys Anatomy. It has the same quirkiness of Ugly Betty and the same saving the world aspects of Greys Anatomy. Being geared toward families, however, makes it a better candidate for a 7p slot. I say kill the second hour of Biggest Loser and plug Chuck in before it on Tuesdays, let Law & Order double up Wednesdays and keep the Thursday night comedy block. If Southland comes back, run it with Heroes, maybe it can save Heroes as a lead in. Chuck on Tuesdays pits it against American Idol but that is less of the same audience as BBT and even House.

My freaking DVR flipped out on me when House moved to Mondays -- "Chris! You must choose only two!" and I don't own a VCR. I resolved to watching the rest of the Monday shows online Tuesdays nights because Tuesday night tv is TERRIBLE. At least in a Tuesday spot, Chuck wouldn't have to go against Dancing with the Stars (moms), BBT (Geeks and the SciFi contingent), Gossip Girl (I know, but a lot of the 20-something women I know love this, even if they think Chuck is adorable), AND freaking House (Everyone else.)

Chuck isn't going to steal any viewers from American Idol but at the very least, it can get second place on DVR list.

"According to two people familar with the situation, Subway's internal tracking of the "Chuck" promotion was off the charts. One source labeled it the best such product placement the restaurant chain has done "in several years."

And here's the kicker: Pace was so impressed with "Chuck's" impact on sandwich sales, he actually called a top NBC ad sales executive to let him know just how much Subway loved the Chuckster. What's more, Pace told NBC the company hoped the network decided to renew "Chuck" for another season."

I was at Subway yesterday and it was packed!!! I have to see Jeffster again and CHUCH-FU!!! Imagine the possibilities for Chuck - what if he could download Halo 3 or James Bond's charm to seduce the ladies? Also not everything is fool proof - I could see some hilarious things go awry with the latest intersect.

Bad Robot ! says: "I liked HEROES better when it was called THE 4400."

Uh, would that have anything to do with someone named Summer Glau?

Actually, probably one of the few babes liked more than Summer at Superiorpics.com would be Hayden Panettiere.

However, FHM Magazine released their 100 Sexiest Women list and Summer made number 16!

Nick C: "Just a few weeks ago we found out that Angela’s sister had been alive for 40+ years living by herself in a basement and taking care of herself (since she was like 12). It was absurd."

Wow! Somebody stole that from Fringe - or vice versa! LOL! That was the plot of Fringe a couple episodes ago - kid found in abandoned building that was sealed for 75 years! One of Fringe's weaker episodes in my opinion.

I have no problem Fin with Angela’s sister surviving, I have a problem with her surviving for 40 years and not once checking out society. She had to get the food from somewhere not to mention her clothing. Plus the idea that she stayed there because her sister told her to is beyond belief. I could accept staying there weeks or months, but 40+ years? No kid is that stupid.

- in the episode angelas sister said that after she ran out of food she would go to the nearby villages and steal what she needed (im asuming that included clothes and other necesities)

I said that if Sylar was still present or existed in any way, shape, or form after this finale, I was done with the show, and I believe I’m sticking to that. Strange, too, as I was such a devoted fan in Season 1.

- i think that what heroes will do is basically have nathan stay with sylars powers, so not so much sylar, i think that sylar is done

i actually thought the heroes finale was great

chucks finale was amazing too i hope they renew the show. i would love it if nbc gave a full season reknewal, but they should at least give it a midseason replacement and have it on a different day w a lot of advertisment

Dawn unfortunately Survivor is like 10 seasons or shows, they did a couple each year and it and the bachelor are popular, thats why they keep coming back. House is done, next season will be its last, it had its peak, there is simply no where to take the show except the same old thing and sans the freaky suicide still has nothing new or entertaining for that matter, Hugh Laurie swinging his cane and insulting people, that got tired after the first season. All the precedurals are dead unless there is a scifi twist or a hybrid, cops, doctors and lawyers are done, for a few years atleast.

First of all, these networks aren't thinking about what they're putting these shows up against. I've never been a huge t.v. person, but I love Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and now I'm addicted to The Mentalist, Castle, and Dollhouse as well.

The problem?--I go to work and college full time. So I dvr most of the shows I can't catch on time.

How about they get rid of something like Survivor?--It's on it's, what, seventh season (which would just be sad if its actually any higher) with its same ridiculous plot and drama (my bad, on a different island)? Or what about the Bachelor? I say drop these shows and keep the ones that actually have a great story with likeable characters and actors.

For my two cents worth...

1. Someone brought up the Chuck numbers against brutal competition. Still a firm fourth but Chuck does get more love than Kings. Keep Chuck and Heroes where they are for one more year. With the "one more chance" scenario. The numbers could be better. It was a great episode.

2. I caught the final 10 minutes of Heroes and will watch my tivo of how it got there. Sylar (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) "dying" reminds me of how the Master died on Doctor Who a few years ago. Last rumored heard is that John Simm (The Master) was on the Doctor Who set recently. Unless Zachary Quinto wanted to leave the show, amid if Star Trek becomes a hit. The recent storyline for Heroes, started great in my book with the government taking them all but the whole storyline unravelled and it was back to Sylar against the good guys (again). Kind of like following Big Ten football year after year. I think the Heroes gang should come back one more year with also a "one more chance" ultimatum. Worked for Lost.

3. NBC on Mondays reminds me of that friend in school you only hang around with if the cooler people are not available. The "when in doubt" we have NBC on Monday scenario. Sadly, Chuck is the most under appreciated show in television. Add Life On Mars and Kings to that list.

4. ON ANOTHER SUBJECT: Congratulations to Dick Ebersol for his lifetime achievement award at the Sports Emmys. He would be one of my "Heroes" in the television industry. Another Ebersol influence, if you came up with NBC's 10 highest rated shows in prime time in the past year, you would see ALL sports. Super Bowl XLIII and the Olympics. Maybe Dick should run primetime? Worth a shot.

Heroes was garbage last night. Angela's idea made absolutely no sense. They need to keep Nathan alive because if people find out that someone with abilities killed a senator then they'll be hunted down? Okay, ignoring how completely idiotic that entire premise is, why didn't they just give Nathan some of Claire's blood to heal him? Or why didn't they just have Peter pose as Nathan? The ending was just a pathetic attempt to keep Sylar in the show because the writers are incapable of coming up with any new villains.

Fillion is a given. He's brilliant, always has been, always will be. Castle has gotten better week to week for me, leading me to believe that it deserves renewal.

Guys honestly dont worry about the intersect upgrade. WHEN NBC give us the third season this is how i see it playing out. Chucks dad was a super awesome spy when he was orion and he said that he uploaded the intersect to his head... mayb its the same one where it gives u all these powers. If u notice at the end of the episode chucks dad starts feeling weak after he flashes which leads me to believe that this intersect is dangerous bringing the need for it to be removed later on. I think it would be cool for chuck to have some super spy abilities for a little while although i have a feeling it wont last. The great thing about chuck is hes just a normal guy and uses his knowledge of computer games and real world experience to get himself through it im pretty sure the writers havent forgotten that part and i think we can look forward to some cool charah action ;). The writers havent let us down yet so keep the faith. Cmon NBC please please please give us a 3rd season i wont survive without chuck.....

The similar to other shows is correct in a sense, it has been a very popular theme for ages the Mind/computer fusion, I can site many movies playing up this theme, and this years season of shows certainly play on this idea too. Lets see, Dollhouse; mind wipe and rewrite, skills enhancement, Fringe has had some episodes along that theme, Heroes plays around that, its more a genetic programming, though I haven't kept up with it. Terminator had a similar premise with cybernetic stuff, again this is all similar stuff, scifiish molding the computer with the flesh as sorts. I know I'm forgetting some, but I'll say every one of those shows writers was a Blade Runner fan and/or read Philip K Dick at one time or another.
With Chuck it doesn't take itself seriously and that's what works, geeky themes with humor, romance and action. I mean hey they killed Chevy Chase in a cold blooded shot to the chest, that's a plus anyday, pseudo swearing 'Oh chuck me' and simply great music, even the corny ones like Mr. Roboto.
Never understood the draw of House, I'm tired of medical shows anyway, I want escape and funny, my life is too crappy all day to go without some light hearted fare, does Southland or Parks & Recreation do that, not even close, Castle however is earning more attention, and that's because of Nathan Fillion.

Or both. Of course I would prefer Chuck, but I like Life very much. My only point was that I don't think we can really decide if Season 3 can't go anywhere intriguing until we see more of what they have planned for it. Granted, it needs to be renewed first, but still. As to how the show was getting stale (I know, not your exact words), I agree 100%, the "stay in the car" mentality was wearing on me. Which is perhaps why I like where they are going with it. The intersect being in his head never bothered me (though, had they "removed it/put it back in" a few more times, it might of). Now that Chuck has gained some skill, without knowing any of the drawbacks, I am very excited to see what they do with it.

VeNom says:

"The finale was not just a joke for it’s comparisson to Neo"

First, the Matrix is one of the best movies ever.

The Matrix ending just made Chuck more awesome. Go back and watch the Matrix, average guy working a dead end job, has to make a choice...

If you are moderating the comments, what's the rush? Take your time - so a comment appears two weeks after it was posted - bit deal, there are more important things in this world (like getting Chuck renewed ;)

@ Dylan as refreshing and unique this show's premise was, "the stretch has killed it". The finale was not just a joke for it's comparisson to Neo but that it returns to Chuck being the intersect...And it's seems to me that the writers stumble to the beginning, out of nowhere else to go......Granted they're many possible outcomes to be had..None however that can get this mind of mine to be intrigued..... The merry go round hasn't been in my park of entertaainment in a long time...

BTW your passion for your show is admirable,I feel the same way about Life...So hopefully the Peacock rewards one of us in the end.......

I call shenanigans on the whole tv shows are just like each other because they follow same format bs. Most shows that share similar genres have the same or similar format. Just like most so called "reality" shows are over glorified game shows in one form or another and really don't have much to do with reality.

Agreed. My point, however, is that Chuck's premise seems to click more for people. Yes, every show is different. That doesn't, however, make it good or engaging. Which enters into the fickle realm of opinion, about which we could argue all day. I'm just giving my thoughts as to why Chuck is often described as unique. It's a fresh take on, as you said, the classic case-by-case cop/medical drama/comedies we see all to often now. Because, like you said, television has become a very limited medium.
