Plus the retention is horrible. It’s going to last for a while, but on it’s own, it probably wouldn’t. Plus it’s episodic. Technically much easier to get into than Lost, yet Lost gets better ratings than Fringe – in the key demos, without any sort of lead in.

Lost got 18 million viewers in season 1, I’d like to see Fringe hit that number. But even in season 3, it averaged 13 million at 10pm. So, yeah. Comparing Fringe to Lost is to quote Dr. Chang “utterly absurd”.

One things for sure, people who want Three Rivers to succeed better hope the show is in the top 10 for ratings of CBS shows or it won’t stand a chance. More than likely, it won’t have the comfy spot of being between two strong ratings shows(GW, Numbers) that Moonlight did.

Obama chose last night because it was the 100th day and all the network and cable news people were making such a big deal of it all week. It wasn’t as if the networks couldn’t have seen that one coming. And honestly they have reporters who could ask about the scheduling of these things.

Maybe I’m wrong, but to me it looks like CM had pretty much the same ratings last night as it has the previous past weeks.

I’m sorry, but what an ignorant comment that is. I’m a republican, and I certainly don’t hate our president. In fact I voted for him as many republicans did. I suppose your next argument is the republicans control the cable news ratings as well. That must be the reason Fox News beats CNN and MSNBC combined. It’s always the opposing party’s fault, right? Ahh, life would be so much easier if that were true, but I find serious faults in both parties that make them equally reprehensible. Perhaps you should take a closer look at what’s really going on instead of blaming the opposition.

In total viewership, not in the 18-49 demo. The finals put “Fringe” ahead by under 600,000 for total viewership, but “Lost” was ahead by 0.1 in the demo this week:

Fringe:
- 9.623 million viewers
- 4.0 A18-49

Lost:
- 9.037 million viewers
- 4.1/10 A18-49

In terms of how networks fall when it comes to shows with the same 18-49 it can vary from show to show and relative costs. 30-minute sitcoms can for example survive with lower 18-49 numbers than a 60-minute show as sitcoms are cheaper to produce, which is why its so difficult to compare the numbers between the two. When you’re looking at 60-minute dramas how the 18-49 breaks down in terms 18-34, high income homes, trend setters and things of that nature will play a large part. As will how much the show costs to make, how much money it brings in and sometimes who’s involved. There are a lot of variables to take into account with buble shows.

I guess that depends on whether you think its reasonable to take each networks Obama numbers individually or not. I don’t think its unreasonable to spin it that way but it is major spin to push that agenda.

Lie to Me has the numbers to be renewed…Anybody think it’s a great show..I usually wait for a show to get up to 10 eps before I give it a go….

Another question I have though: I noticed frequently that shows with higher viewer numbers will have lower 18-49 ratings. I know a network much prefers the latter because of advertising, but given 2 shows with equal 18-49 ratings but different live viewership, what would a network prefer to keep? A good example of this would be the competition between the NBC bubble shows. Law and Order, Chuck, Kath and Kim, and My Name is Earl all have 18-49 ratings between 2.1 and 2.4, but their viewer totals differ more. If 2 shows had the same ratings, would the network prefer the show with the higher viewer total or a show that has a greater percentage of 18-49 year olds?

When I’m watching, at the beginning I’ll jump around to see who has the best sound and picture quality. Strangely, they are different. Maybe last night it was NBC?
