CBS marketing itself in front of upfronts

The CBS Television Network, part of the CBS Corporation, will begin on Sunday morning a national media campaign aimed not only at advertisers and agencies but also at viewers and consumers. The campaign will carry the theme “Only CBS.” (Somewhere, the Platters, who sang “Only You,” are smiling.)

The goal of the campaign, being created internally, is to promote the ratings and viewership performance of CBS in the 2008-9 season, which ends this month. That is meant to help set the table for the CBS upfront presentation, scheduled for May 20, to be followed by negotiations over commercial sales and rates for the new season.
