What! Why haven’t those loser discovered “Chuck” yet!

  2. djm

dear god, why must we do this in every topic…

  3. Tony

Because they’re saving Chuck for the losers that are currently watching it.

  4. AD

    Be quiet “winner”

  5. Mumbo

No surprise that the serials top it.

But you people downloading Prison Break had better not have Nielsen boxes >:(

  6. Jackson

I’ve never downloaded torrents (but I have used RAR and AVI files) so I have a few questions.

Does downloading these shows or episodes increase the chances of getting bugs or errors for your computer?

If so then why do people do this rather than stream the show or episode online? (ex: youtube, megavideo, supernovatube)

If people want to stream shows legally (on the network’s offical website) or illegally, it seems it would save more time and would be safer for your computer.

  7. AD

Torrent file are quite secure, in the end they are file avi or mkv ( hd resolution)

  8. Gusar

@Jackson: Bittorrent is very safe. I don’t think it’s possible to attach malware to a video file. But even if someone managed to do so, that torrent would be deleted very quickly.

The reason people torrent instead of streaming is that streaming is US only, while most of these torrent downloads are from outside the US.

    @ jackson

dumbass (sorry) u.s. citizens downloading TV shows only take up like 1% of the total torrent downloads
most people who use this are from Europe and Asia
see, we over here cannot get access to your shows
all the big videoportals are banning everyone outside the US, like hulu, and abc, nbc, cbs .com

  10. cdn

Tony, I can understand calling illegal downloaders losers, but in what way do people who enjoy watching (legally) a critically praised show deserve to be called losers? Your comment just reveals your level of immaturity.

  11. Iceflame

Surprised Pushing Daisies isn’t on that list again, especially with the final episode airing over here in the UK.

  12. nm

Iceflame, PD is not that popular as you think. It is not by any means mainstream show (ratings suggested so) and torrents usually reflect popularity of shows well known internationally. What I don’t get is how Heroes still has not lost its appeal yet. Apparently, Nielsen viewers sometimes have better taste than downloaders or people just forgot to disable heroes RSS feed ;)

  13. daniel

do bitorrent shows work on ipod

  14. me

daniel they will once you convert them to fit the screen resolution and fps and whatnot to your ipod’s specifications.

i’m really surprised smallville is in the top ten and chuck isn’t. but i supposed the former has been on for such a long time that people are well aware it’s on tv, whereas chuck has been getting stiffed by the writer’s strike and preempting conundrums. it’s a shame though!

I don’t own much new technology-by cyberpunk definition I’m a loser who just doesn’t watch serials at all. The word pirate obviously implies they don’t pay for it. Good. I copy some of my best CD’s from the public library, and used to copy movies off videotapes when it was possible. My loser friends and I circulate favorite taped stuff for free. I guess wer’e all immoral anarchists. Again, good. How many times can a person say – too many ads, and the ads showed the most suck. I don’t skip the ads for Gilmore Girl or Seinfeld and Family Guy on TBS because they are innocuous – not funny, not irritating, just there. And they are for, surprise, Proctor and Gamble, Clorox and Johnson and Johnson, ie, winners who use the whimsical soft sell. Go, Torrent. ( I also approve of poor people stealing from chain stores. )

  16. kermode

    @djm

    That’s why ;-)

  17. kermode

    @Jackson

You are not likely to get a virus from an avi file (but web links can be embedded in wmv files, so that might pose a potential threat) – but i guess there are two main reasons people download: 1. they can’t stream – because they live outside the region where the websites allow to stream. Or 2. they have a hardware players which can play back the material on the TV (so they can use the computer to post comments here meanwhile ;)
