THE NBC PROGRAM DOMINATES IN WASHINGTON D.C. ? TOPS CBS BY 149%, ABC BY 158% AND FOX BY 1,422%
NEW YORK ? May 7, 2009 ?"Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program in all categories for the week ending May 3 according to Nielsen Media Research data. The Gregory-moderated broadcast was No. 1, delivering 3.230 million total viewers, +21% more (+561,000) than second place ABC "This Week's" 2.669 million, a +30% advantage (+736,000) over third place CBS "Face The Nation's" 2.494 million and a +166% lead (+2,015,000) over FOX News Sunday's 1.215 million. The NBC program has now placed first in total viewers for 395 of the past 398 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage).
In Washington, D.C., "Meet the Press" dominated the competition with 137,000 viewers (5.0/13 HH), more viewers than the CBS, ABC, and FOX combined. "Meet the Press" marked a +149% lead over CBS' 55,000 (1.6/4 HH), a +158% advantage over ABC's 53,000 (2.1/5), and a huge +1,422% lead over FOX's 9,000 viewers (0.4/1).
In homes nationally, the NBC program was No. 1, posting a 2.3and 7 share. ABC was second with a 1.9 rating and 5 share, CBS placed third with a 1.8 rating and a 5 share and FOX was last with a 0.9 rating and 3 share. "Meet the Press" has now placed first in households for 133 consecutive weeks and 493 of the past 494 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage).
Among adults 25-54, "Meet the Press" was top rated with 1.0 rating. CBS was second with a 0.8 rating, ABC placed third with a 0.7 rating and FOX was last with a 0.4. In rating A25-54, "Meet the Press" topped CBS by +25% (+2 tenths), ABC by +43% (+3 tenths) and FOX by +150% (+6 tenths).
Season-to-date, "Meet the Press" is up in homes (+3%), total viewers (+9%), rating W/A18-49 (+13%/+13%) and rating W/A25-54 (+20%/+9%) versus the same period last season. Week-to-week, "Meet the Press" posted gains in rating M/A18-49 (+17%/+17%) and rating M/A25-54 (+10%/+11%).
On its digital platforms, "Meet the Press" generated more than 306,000 online video streams from May 3 through May 7, 2009. Traffic to www.mtp.msnbc.com was at more than 826,000 page views for that same time period. The "Meet the Press" video podcast (available at www.mtp.msnbc.com) remains the top ranked network Sunday Morning program podcast on iTunes.
