ABC won the night, as Castle, following directly after Dancing with the Stars surged to its best 18-49 rating (2.8) in weeks. I've been down on the show's renewal chances, as you'd have to be after last week's 2.1, but I think last night may have just saved it.
Sorry, no Univision numbers as yet, and no more analysis right now, I'm off to a meeting.
(Note from Seidman: Bill accidentally left One Tree Hill off the list below. It had exactly the same demo numbers as Gossip Girl and 2.227 million viewers).Fixed, One Tree Hill is now in the table, sorry for the omission.
Previous Monday overnight reports are available for comparison.

Shows are sorted by 18-49 rating in each time slot.
Nielsen TV Ratings: ©2009 The Nielsen Company.
Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

OTH??
This makes Chuck’s ratings look like gold!
I always knew Castle was going to get renewed… just holding out hope for The Unusuals… *crosses fingers*
GO CASTLE!!!! Save the day!
Let’s hope we go out with a bang in the finale next week!
Deal or No Deal did a real nice job in the rating! NBC shoul love Chuck numbers now. I do not care if SVU was on Mondays at 8pm there rating would not be much better than Chucks. NBC should renew Chuck for a full season and move the show for the LAST TIME TO WEDS. AND WATCH THE RATING GO UP.
Castle’s retention is better than Surving Suburbia’s. (demo-wise)
Btw. will DWTS also be the lead-in for Castle for the next 2 or so episodes? (I think just 2 left this season, right?)
Anyway, really happy about the numbers. Hope this is enough to Castle gets a second season.
OTH= 1.1/3, 1.6/5, 2.227 million
Yeah, the return of Deal or No Deal really killed NBC. Medium did pretty well considering the competition in the 9 pm hour. But it really did well in the second hour. I figured it would get clobbered in the first hour, and it did. Hopefully it’ll do better next week (but I’m not holding my breath).
9-9:30 6.06M 1.8/5
9:30-10.00 6.77M 2.1/5
10:00-10:30 8.10M 2.5/7
10:30-11:00 8.03M 2.4/7
Not a bad showing overall, I think.
House was actually beaten by DWTS? What a world do we live in… Two and a Half Men still delivers great ratings, good news.
Such bad numbers for medium. This show deserves better
Dennis, actually DWTS didn’t beat House for the 8pm hour, the numbers above reflect DWTS entire average from 8pm-10pm.
Ouch for Deal or No Deal.
Howie Mandel is in the unique position of starring in 2 alternative shows that air on the same network and get nearly the same terrible numbers and will most likely both get canned during the same season.
If, as we are lead to believe, Castle is on the bubble, these numbers have got to be a positive for renewal. I certainly hope so – great show, great cast, fun to watch!
Never thought I would be thankful for a variety show of B class celebs. Castle looks good.
Well, this suggests that another show would do worse in the 9-10 hour for NBC than Heroes.
House also absolutely destroyed everything in 18-34.
“Howie Mandel is in the unique position of starring in 2 alternative shows that air on the same network and get nearly the same terrible numbers and will most likely both get canned during the same season.”
If we are so lucky.
Do we have half hour data on Castle? I would like to compare vs Medium.
I’m going to have to give Castle another try. I really wanted to like it but the first episode felt very draggy to me. As for Deal or No Deal I figured it wouldn’t match Chuck’s numbers but the fact that it barely beat Gossip Girl is almost laughable.
