Rating up 21% Over Last Year
NEW YORK - May 11, 2009 - NBC Sports' final round coverage of The Players yesterday (2-7 p.m.) earned a 4.1 overnight rating and a 10 share, which equals the best rating for the event in five years (2004 – 4.1/9) and a 21 percent increase over last year (3.4/8) according to Nielsen Media Research.
Henrik Stenson, who started play on Sunday tied with Tiger Woods and four other players for second place, five shots behind Alex Cejka, earned his first Players Championship title with a final round 66 to beat the best field in golf. The final round rating peaked from 6-6:30 at a 5.2/12 as Stenson secured his victory.
Saturday's third round delivered a 2.8/7, a 33 percent increase over 2008 (2.1/5).
