WINS THE WEEK – BEATING THE COMPETITION IN TOTAL VIEWERS, A25-54 AND HOMES

NEW YORK – May 12, 2009 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of May 4-10, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast averaged 7.895 million total viewers, +400K more than ABC “World News'” 7.495 million, and +2.197 million more than CBS “Evening News'” 5.698 million. Season-to-date “Nightly” leads ABC by 776K viewers. 

“Nightly” has won for 30 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 24 straight weeks in A25-54. Versus the same week last season, “Nightly” increased in total viewers (+2% or +122,000). 

Among the key demographic adults 25-54, “Nightly News” delivered a 1.9 rating, ahead of ABC’s 1.7 rating and CBS’ 1.3 rating. “Nightly” led “World News” by +293,000 A25-54 viewers for the week. Season-to-date “Nightly” leads ABC by 305K A25-54 viewers. 

In homes, “Nightly News” won with a 5.3 rating and a 11 share. In second place ABC drew a 5.1/11, and CBS posted a 3.9/8.
