A few days ago I noted the traps that TV writers were likely to be caught in when recapping up this season's broadcast season race.
The Strike and its Effect on 2007-8: CBS is noted that they're the only network up vs. 2007-8, but no mention that they were down the most last season vs. 2006-7.
The Super Bowl Effect: Fox is noted as being down vs. last season, but no mention that much of the loss can be attributed to having the Super Bowl in 2008. No mention of NBC's results being buoyed by the Super Bowl this season. NBC is noted as being closer to ABC in adults 18-34, but no mention that gain was substantially because they had the Super Bowl in 2009.
As you read reports like these, beware the traps!
You can see my year over year comparisons (adjusted for Super Bowls!) here.
