"The Late Late Show" Also Ties "Late Night" in Adults 25-54 for the First Time and Finishes in Its Closest Competitive Position in Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34
CBS's THE LATE LATE SHOW with CRAIG FERGUSON finished ahead of "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in viewers for the first time and tied in adults 25-54 for the initial time as well, according to Nielsen live plus same day highlights for the week ending May 8.
Since Jimmy Fallon's March 2 premiere, THE LATE LATE SHOW matched its closest competitive position with "Late Night" in both adults 18-49 (-0.1, for the fifth consecutive week) and adults 18-34 (-0.1, for the first time with first run episodes airing against first run episodes).
THE LATE LATE SHOW posted a 1.4/05 in households with 1.87m viewers, +7% in viewers (from 1.74m) compared to the same week last year. THE LATE LATE SHOW was up +25% in adults 18-34 (0.5/03 from 0.4/02), +14% in adults 25-54 (0.8/04 from 0.7/04) and even in adults 18-49 (0.6/04) compared to the same week last year.
THE LATE LATE SHOW beat "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in viewers (1.873m vs. 1.867m) for the first time. The programs tied in both households (1.4/05, each) for the third time in 10 weeks and in adults 25-54 (0.8/04 vs. 0.8/05) for the first time ever.
Season-to-date, THE LATE LATE SHOW is up +8% in households (1.4/05 from 1.3/05), +10% in viewers (1.89m from 1.73m), +14% in adults 25-54 (0.8/04 from 0.7/04) and even in both adults 18-49 (0.6/03) and adults 18-34 (0.4/02) compared to last year.
Wow go Craig! He’s, by far, the funniest of the two “late late” night hosts.
Could it be that the tide has finally turned?
In addition to being a fairly funny and extremely likable host, his name is Craig, just like mine.

Gotta agree. Fallon can’t come close to Craig for being totally nuts.
Fallon acts like he’s still nervous about doing his show, whereas Craig clearly doesn’t give a rat’s ass one way or the other.
Which is the right attitude.
I love it when Shirley Manson is on and the two Scots leave the audience way behind while laughing over their experiences in Scotland – and haggis.
Or Craig saws Kristin Bell in half.
Or how he spits every time he has to mention a show on another network.
Or how he insists on pushing the “Paul McCartney looks like Angela Lansbury” joke into the stratosphere. Lena Headey helped him there when she was on because she has a dog that is named Angela Lansbury.
Not to mention, RSH, that you never know what he’s going to do to open the show every night. Could be puppets, could be rap, who knows?
