Update: while still not "official" yet, Nikki Finke reports that Dollhouse has been renewed. So does James Hibberd, and a multitude of other sources. You might have already heard it from your mom or at the check out line at the grocery store! Apparently no official announcement will come before Monday, but, the official announcement will come on Monday.
The renew/cancel index may lay off Fridays completely next year and it looks like I'll be posting the Greek numbers for a while and donating $10 to Nick C's favorite charity.

TSCC fans are not taking this news well. This fanbase thinks anything not positive for them alone is somehow a negative. I would love to see Summer Glau move to DH. Her obsessed fans that are craipping on DH would be in shock. lol

@Tom, I’m not offended at all. When CW renews Privileged I won’t be offended either. But that renewal would dramatically change Bill’s headlining of the index posts next season. The Dollhouse renewal, probably not so much.
Well, since people here have said that Nikki is rarely wrong and she claims this comes from official sources, I guess we can take that to the bank.
I just left a comment on her site asking her to find out why TSCC hasn’t been officially buried and the actors notified. Maybe she can use her clout to find out what nobody else can – why the actors and producers claim they haven’t been told at this late date. I’d really like to get that cleared up.

Because it was another hour from the schedule. Or one show that was trending down fast for several weeks gets renewed.
I don’t want Summer on the show, I want her in movies (like she was talking about). If Dollhouse is cutting costs they probably won’t give her a large enough role to be worthwhile.

I agree with Robert and Bill. The numbers aren’t there. A 1.0 and renewed? Seriously? I know Kevin’s reasons and they make sense, but a 1.0? REALLY?!?!
If I was in charge there, I’d fire him for suggesting renewal (of course if I was in charge there, Joss would have had more control, and I’d have used AI as a lead in, and it never would have had a 1.0), but I understand why.
I kind of liked the last two episodes. I really liked the last episode actually, so I suggest people buy the DVD so they can see it since FOX didn’t air it.
I don’t think the Index is wrong here, but I think Fridays are different. FOX is trying to show stability for Friday and that meant renewing DOLLHOUSE or TSCC and they made the right decision as far as quality is concerned.
Um, FWIW, Nikki is hardly the only one reporting this. It’s all over the place, including many sources not as debated as Finke.
I’m as stumped as you guys are, but happy. It’s not a fantastic show by any stretch, but it’s got some intriguing layers to it and watching them peel off is sufficiently interesting to make the show worth watching.
I must say, though, I don’t see how it’s gonna stay interesting with Ballard under Adelle’s thumb, November gone and Victor becoming a non-issue. She may be the star and producer, but Eliza Dushku was far removed from the reasons I’ve enjoyed this show.

RSH, her character is left in a miserable state at the end of the season/series (I don’t mean creatively, I mean she’s in effect disembodied right now). If you knew the ratings were poor and the show’s survival prospects were bad next year, and a character you loved playing was left in a state that would never be resolved from the look of things, you’d probably be upset/sad too. I know I would. That could be what she was feeling.
Again, it’s subjective. You have no way of knowing you’re right, I have no way of knowing I’m right. I saw the video and I saw the question, I saw Summer’s face, and I drew different conclusions. Unless one of us is a mind reader, we have no way of knowing who’s right and we both presented reasoned arguments that explain her reaction. Ultimately neither you nor I will know the truth of this.
Nick C., Summer said she had the movie offer already at FedCOn in Germany 2 weeks ago, when she said she didn’t know TSCC’s fate. I know I’m being a real pain here, but I’d really appreciate it if you could tell me the project. As you can imagine I’m feeling pretty badly right now and I just want some scrap of good news to hold on to. Summer seemed really enthusiastic about the movie in her interview and I’d just like to know what it is. Could you find out? Please?
