The Grey’s Anatomy finale had some of the most brilliant writing I’ve seen in TV history. Complete classic.

Yikes and Ouch @ Ugly Betty. Do you people have in the archives the number for their first season finale (back in 2007)? I am sure it was around the 12 million mark.

This show is going to return next season only to be cancelled after, let’s say, four or five weeks. I don’t see Ugly Betty living through Thanksgiving.

I don’t think this episode was weak nor do I think next season has to be the last. YED was the big bad for two years, Lilith was the big bad for two years, and Lucifer’s story could continue for 2 years. Jared and Jensen both have contracts for two more years, so the show could continue to a sixth season.

I’m glad that grey’s went out on a high ( ratings wise) after a very tough year for them

I’m hoping that desperate housewives does the same after a seasonal low last week

And I would like to see all shows which have seen a decline in ratings go back up to their best like last year I don’t get why every scripted show has had a decline anyway

It would seem NBC was looking for their next “Third Watch.” Unfortunately for them, they got their next “Boomtown.” I would have been happy to offer Ann Biderman unsolicited suggestions for how to fix her show — which is in desperate need of extensive retooling — but what’s the point now? The audience is already off the beat.

Because of its rapidly declining 18-49 numbers CSI’s budget must be slashed because the advertisers wont pay so much to advertise during that show on Thursday. So CSI must be moved to another night to remain on the air. The Office can continue on Thurs because its 18-49 ratings compared to its overall rating is very very impressive still. So Grey’s Anatomy and Office are GREAT for their networks on Thursday but CSI is horrible for a network on Thursday and must be moved.

Seriously, when are the networks going to understand how many people are DVRing and starting things later so they can forward through the Networks bread and butter advertising? I watched Grey’s last night, DVR’d the office and 30 rock and will watch all this week’s CSi’s On Demand this weekend. This is a broken system. I know that’s been discussed a million times on a site as informed as this one but they need to work it out so great shows like CHuck don’t have to suffer this nonsense and asshats like Leno don’t millons of dollars for a show that will never ever work out for NBC.
Oh and Ugly Betty is the most annoying show ever.

SOUTHLAND fell a tenth in the Nationals — now sees a 1.6 in demo, 4.649 million viewers. Compared to its premiere — 3.2, 9.864 — that’s a 50% drop in demo, and a 53% drop in total viewers. In just 5 weeks. If NBC isn’t suffering buyers remorse, then maybe their goal is 5th place??

I agree with the Supernatural fans. One of the best shows on TV right now and my favorite season finale, along w Lost and Fringe. I am also a huge Reaper fan. Funny though, 6 years ago I didn’t even know the CW existed, now it hosts 2 fo the best tv shows around. Hopefully they will do right by Reaper as the earlier article is suggesting and the network keeps it rolling for at least a year or two.

Why would they mess with success? It’s holding its own on a competitive night (although, to be fair the 8PM slot is less competitive than 9PM) and moving it would just mean trying out a new show in that slot.

BONES does just fine, and without SURVIVOR on it wins the night handily. BONES moves around a lot and now is in the 8pm slot battling Daylight Savings Time. All 8pm shows get hit this time of year.

So So, angry. There is no reason to watch the short season of Southland during it’s first airing. I can watch on Sat. I know it will be on . I can also watch it on HULU.com . I can also watch it on cable “On Demand”. with a show starting this late in the season and not becoming a huge hit out of the gate, there is no way for it to build significantly on it’s numbers. I am a fan of the show and I still chose to watch Grays finale. I am under no delusion that it is doing well. I do however think that it will do fine. Given time……………. (NBC has stated publicly that they are pushing viewers to Digital delivery systems. I would be curious to see the 7 day #’s).

CSI: NY finale was amazing but very sad! I just disappointed with CBS moving NY finale thus early and on a thursday! Im a fan of NY and Im not surprised it came second in ratings against Greys. CBS didnt realize that Greys fan are solid every thursday and NY is just a newbie. I wish they just moved the NY finale another week at wednesday than they did.

At this point CBS has got to be in panic mode with CSI because those numbers are ugly, a 3.4 for the season finale? I suspect that Thursday nights on CBS are going to get a shake-up next year.

On another note I’m always amazed that Bones’ numbers aren’t strong – I always assume they’re bigger than they actually are.

Your logic isn’t entirely logical. For one, you confuse quality of a show/ep with ratings. That’s not a gauge you can use. Ask 99% of viewers of tvbythenumbers. Many shows that win awards for their outstanding quality tend to get crap ratings (i.e. 30 Rock, Damages, etc).

Where have you heard FOX is adding So You Think to their fall? I worked for a FOX affiliate, and never once heard that. Pretty sure it’ll stay in the summer. They learned that lesson watching NBC try and put Last Comic Standing in the fall.

You say that FOX is “slowing turning into a force”? FOX is a little over 20 years old, and is the leader in about all the age demos, last year even winning HH. They’ve been THE force for years.

But I think your input on SouthLAnd is the weakest. The show was decreasing even before they moved Harper’s Island. It’s just been a gradual thing. Procedural competition or not, losing over 50% of your audience in a few eps is HORRIBLE. There’s a reason why they only ordered 13 more eps, and that they are thinking about putting it on Fridays.

First up, since no one else will mention it – Survivor continues to perform solidly for CBS. It’s actually been a pretty good season. CSI the departure of Grissom left a huge hole in the show. Fishburn just doesn’t cut it. L&O seems to be able to change cast members at will, but not CSI. I’ve stopped watching.

Bones is a bright spot for FOX. It belongs on Monday or Tuesday during the fall.
