Nikki Finke reports that CBS has renewed Cold Case. Of all the longer-running CBS procedurals vying for renewal, Cold Case was the one I had the most doubt over outside of The Unit. Though compared with some of the renewal announcements on Friday from other networks, I suppose Cold Case seemed like a sure thing!
Update: Nellie Andreeva at The Hollywood Reporter reports that the renewal for Cold Case is still pending, along with a renewal for mid-season of Rules of Engagement. The story also says that prospects for Without a Trace and The Unit are not looking good.
Update 2: Ausiello now says Cold Case has been officially renewed.
I stopped watching Cold Case when it moved to 9pm. Too much competition.

This is one of the worst shows CBS has, it’s really boring and the lead is still stiff after all these years.
Glad to hear it. It had a strong season, and given the mess that CSI has become in recent months, it’s easily one of CBS’s strongest procedurals now.
You know its funny, we wonder about whether Without a Trace, which averages anywhere from 12 to 13 million a week, will be renewed but most other networks (NBC) would kill to have those kind of numbers for any of their shows.
Without a Trace should be renewed too.
I don’t think going with CC over WAT will be very surprising. CC has the misfortune of never airing at the same time any night for nearly the whole season, while WAT has one of the best lead-ins CBS has to offer.
It also has a 2.7. I don’t think the other big networks would kill for that.
Its a sure thing? Because if was true its a good news!!! Go Cold Case!
I can’t wait to see the Tuesday at 10 p.m. time slot now. Will WAT stay put, as a lower risk? Will Cold Case be given the slot? And if it can’t pull WAT numbers, will CC be pulled? Or will they let freshman hit Mentalist try to keep this Tuesday time slot alive for one more year?

I’m glad CBS picked Cold Case over Without a Trace (if, as predicted by Variety and Hollywood Reporter, WAT is a goner). CC still has some life in it; WAT bores me senseless now.
BTW, Variety also has an article tonight saying Chuck has been picked up at a lower licensing fee.

I’m not a fan of Without A Trace, but it seems to have pretty good ratings. Why would it be cancelled?
