Michael Ausiello is reporting CBS has cancelled The Unit. My Name is Earl and Medium are not on NBC's schedule for next year, and Earl is reportedly being shopped to FOX and ABC. Meanwhile, Medium fans will no doubt be waiting anxiously to see if CBS picks it up.
On Sunday there was a lot of discussion about Medium moving to CBS and suggestions of a pairing with Ghost Whisperer. Ausiello says that is expected to hapen.

Medium and Ghost Whisperer…they are similar shows…that would be awesome!
I enjoyed My Name is Earl, but the plot was getting old and boring.
I am so bummed about The Unit….CBS never gave it a chance to grow an audience with its terrible Sunday night placement. . Half the time I watched the show deep into the 11pm hour. CBS sucks.
‘Medium’ should live on…it has earned a long life….this season ahs been the best yet.
Fans really need to speak up to keep this show alive. Unfortunately, I think most fans are not big into internet boards, based on the shows demos.
Anyway, CBS really needs to keep this show and air it.
‘Medium’ did better than most of the other shows on NBC…so it was cancelled due to finiancial reasons no doubt.
I hope CBS people are reading these boards.
‘Medium’ could work with GH and Cold case, and really with any other crime drama or drama.
COME ON CBS!! Thinking about it Medium well porbs get the same ratings as Ghost Whispere if not more!!
Also i think FOX should pick up Earl, they can just save it until mid-season to see what happens!
I’m going to quote american dad here. *Paraphrasing not exact qoute*
“I’m trying out for Ghost Whisperer, Frannie read me lines. (Reading Lines) Some say you’re a Ghost Whisperer, well if you really are a Ghost Whisperer, you’ll let me talk to my dead wife!”
And Later in the episode…
“I’m trying out for Medium now, writing’s more complex, Frannie read me lines. (Reading Lines) Some say you’re a Medium. Well if you really are a Medium, you’ll let me talk to my dead wife!”
I think you get the point.
Please pick up Medium CBS
Guess The Unit wasn’t intelligent enough, taut enough, and didn’t have enough interesting and diverse back stories to keep thinking people who buy products amused. And the chemistry of the troupe was remarkable, too. Maybe CBS will see the error of its ways and bring it back, the way NBC did Friday Night Lights.
We know it’s about the ratings and the Benjamins. But why not try it on Tuesday at 10 p.m.–you might sweep the entire night!
MEDIUM ON CBS PLEASE
can’t see earl coming back but it fits in well with FOX
@bill: you are so right. My two favorite shows were both on CBS, Jericho and The Unit. Both thought provoking, edge-of-your-seat dramas. And now they both have suffered the same fate. There are other shows on CBS that I watch, but I’m not sure I will continue to watch them, now. It seems if it’s a show that’s going to have some action, if it’s not CSI related or a reality show, CBS won’t even give it a chance.
lol @themon
earl dosent have a spot on FOX’s sched, so how could fox pick it up?
Fully expected, but still a bummer about The Unit.
I’d like to see Medium on CBS. I still enjoy the show. I find it much more interesting than Ghost Whisperer.
With all the trash that is scripted on NBC, ABC, and FOX, one of them should be thrilled to pick up “The Unit”. It is much better than 90% of their scripted shows, and a proven entity. Just give it a slot.
Forget NBC from now on. They kept Friday Night Lights and Southland, both of which have HORRIBLE ratings. I am never watching that crappy network again.
I hope CBS takes Medium, at least Medium will be on a halfway decent network then.
The Unit was a terrific show, but was sliding into nutty-land toward the end. Perhaps it’s better to have put it out of its misery.
It’d be a bit weird if CBS picked up NBC’s trash (not saying Medium’s bad, but there’s a big difference in ratings there). Also it feels weird if, say, the Friday (and I’m assuming the only show that could take Medium’s ratings would be that night) consists of “oh, ghost talking.” “Oh, more ghost talking.” There’s a reason they don’t regularly schedule all their CSI’s back to back.
Fox and ABC do both have no live-action comedy hits. I hope if Earl gets picked up the ratings don’t really go up.
Gutted about Medium, of course. Really hope CBS picks it up. I’ll be on tenterhooks until it is hopefully confirmed. I’m feeling a little pessimistic right now, especially since my hopes were raised and then dashed.
No importing the new Friday Night Lights dvd in the near future.
j, The only reason CBS would pick up Medium is because of the syndication money. They can afford lower ratings because Lifetime is paying them $1.4(?) million per episode. They don’t get that kind of money from any of their bubble shows (WAT is in syndication, but it’s a joint ownership with WB Studios, so CBS Paramount doesn’t get nearly as much from syndication).
I still think it would be an odd move just because CBS has so few open spaces on their schedule.
I think a Ghost Whisperer and Medium pair up would be cool. Very similar, but each in how they use their abilities is very different. Medium is a procedural, and GW is more or less a mystery. Either way they would make a great pair.
